The NEW Post Your Campsite/gear/knife/hiking/anything Outdoorsy Pic Thread!

Thanks, John, and yes, I agree: not nearly enough time!

Probably get through and upload those pics this weekend. Not too many since it was a short trip.

Getting some miles in on a brisk fall day, I think it dropped down to 82 degrees yesterday :D

Right now I'm really enjoying mountain biking.
My backpacking gear is feeling betrayed, but I've got 4 four day weekends coming up in the next 5 weeks, and will probably head out on an overnighter in the morning, so it'll get over it.

Same place as before that's on my way home from work, and ~15 minutes from my house.

I live deep in the Smoky mtns at the end of along deadend road. We heat with wood only. Have a mtn spring fed water system that uses no power(gravity fed). Grow our own veggies. Our dogs run free.. I shoot on my own shooting range.. Fish in the front yard creek.. hunt in the backyard. We enjoy backpacking, whitewater kayaking, mtbing, hunting, and motorcycling. I was lucky enough to retire up here at the age of 48(I'm 55 now). Its indeed paradise to me.

Hiking in at 6k altitude in the mtns of WNC at 2am.

Near the house backpacking. Note pack in lower right corner.

Roadbiking.

The end

Very much enjoyed the pics. Looks like quite the life, lotta fun stuff. Welcome welcome! Looking forward to seeing more pics from you.

Thanks for the welcome. Lots of serious knowledge here. Learn stuff every day.

I'm trying to live cheaply here in the mtns. The economy hasn't been kind and its been hard to stay "retired". I do work part time at the local bicycle and outdoor outfitter shop. Keeps me busy.

Having said that, I'm currently still healing from a catastrophic moto accident a yr ago in Oct, having crashed the 750 on the Dragon(hit residual oil from a previous bike/car impact an hour before I came thru). Broke my back in 3 places. Neck broken in 2 places. Both lungs punctured. Every rib broken on 1 side, and most on the other. Lacerated liver and kidney. Broken eye socket. Broken hand. Knocked out all my front teeth(yes I was wearing a high end full coverage helmet). Had to wear a Halo bolted to my skull for 3 months..that was attached to a full body brace. Was in ICU for the first month. 2 more in the hosp and rehab. Been a long road. I'm back riding the moto, mtb, backpacking, as well as paddling. Just not nearly as well or as fast haha I have some neurological issues from the neck injuries, and will never be the man I was before. But I'm very lucky to be alive. Or at least not paralyzed in some from. That to me would be worse then death.

Bad thing was, just the yr before, I low-sided the supermoto (on the Dragon yet again)into a car and broke my back then too. That one was diff my fault. Being stupid. 3 vertebra burst fractures=3 months in brace while bed ridden. TWO life fights in just over 1 yrs time. At 55 I'm getting too old for this chit. I'm done besides riding the sumo more as a dual sport. Will try and get back into mtb racing. But its gonna be a long road.

You are very lucky indeed. Well, I wish you continued progress in the healing. Sound like it's been a relatively quick recovery for you, the last pileup only being a year ago... Sounds like taking it nice and slow will be the ticket for future, more intense, sporting.

Replaced the stock tires that had worn out this morning, and gave them and the new pack a try.

Unfortunately, Osprey's Airscape backpanel does not provide even a decent fraction of the airflow that the Airspeed ones do, and my back was soaked in no time at <60F.
A lot of the reviews talk about how much better it is in that regard than Camelbak's packs, etc., so maybe I'm just very spoiled:p

These Mountain bike pictures are killing me. That is one sport I would love to get into. Last year I rode the bijeezus out of some old logging and ATV trails near where I lived at the time and about destroyed my Walgoose deception. As soon as I find a way to store it in the apartment I'm going to start riding again. I just need to decide if the Deception is worth bringing back to life or if I just need to look for something decent used.

The kayak pictures aren't helping at all either.

A few cell phone pics from Oak Mountain State Park, AL.
Lake trail to Rattlesnake Ridge to Mr. Toad's Wild Ride to Foreplay to Jekyll and Hyde and back. I did see a lake, but no rattlesnakes, toads, or mad scientists.
Finally getting our fall colors in.
