Still playing, I just don't post much at all here at the moment. That may change, but there's a lot I'm not thrilled about right now. Posting pics is now even more of a bind too because it is bad form for me to post stuff that's too similar on different forums.

Got out for a nice hike in the San Jacinto mountains in southern California while visiting family today. Some great views toward the San Bernardino and San Gabriel mountains:

A little low-tide walkin at Fitzgerald Marine Preserve the day after Thanksgiving with the GF and her mom (who cooked us a lovely Thanksgiving meal). Foggy day, but still quite relaxing and enjoyable.

Big maple, put my girlfriend in there for scale. It's oftentimes hard to judge the size of these trees in photos if there is not person or object for size reference. This was a monster. Looked like 5 trees twisted together:

No prob. I will answer any question. But to save time right now I would ask you to check out a group that I started on Bushcraft USA. The opening thread should give some background\context. The points, stone and metal, were found predominantly around the Sturgeon River area.

Hiking Mano, those are awesome pictures from Fitzgerald Marine Preserve.

I took the picture below just to mimic one of the heroes of my adolescence, Colin Fletcher. In the 1970's, I was getting started in backpacking. My brother had a copy of Mr. Fletcher's "The New Complete Walker." In that book is a picture similar to the one below. You won't see a smoke bomb or marine rescue strobe light here, though

I also stopped carrying a Space Blanket years ago. If I were going solo, well, maybe I would pack it.

I currently have the 3rd Edition of Mr. Fletcher's book on my shelf.
