I need to make a garden.

We consider it an act of rebellion against Big Brother/corporate nastiness/high prices/GMO's, etc. Plus, it's good exercise and fresh air and actually kinda fun. Till it up, slather it with cow/horse poop, and mulch it now... you'll be ready to rock next spring

I think we got our monies worth out of it!!

In other news there is not much more relaxing and rewarding than tending to a garden. There is something about plants that can calm me down in an instant. I have been growing veggies and herbs all my life and will until the day I die. Now I just need to get down to florida where I can do it correctly and not in my basement. But hell even in my basement i have managed a variety of herbs and peppers. Its just not as fun as an outside garden.

My daughter is 7, im already showing her how to plant from seed and grow flowers and veggies. I have showed her how to make clones of roses, I have even showed her grafting some tomatoes.

We also started a small worm farm a while back in a large aquarium to help with the soil and It gives me readily available bait for fishing lol.. And my kids love seeing them inside the aquarium digging up and down the sides.

A garden is a great idea and a lot of fun. it can be a ton of work, but its some of the most relaxing and rewarding work there is. Just make sure to plan ahead lmao, its easy to get a garden going way bigger than you and your family needs... then your stuck trying to give the veggies away or figuring out how to can and store them thru the year. My grandmother use to can everything and she also made jellies and pie fillers and sold those. But thats another job all by itself. I prefer to grow just enough for my family or close friends and enjoy the fresh veggies as long as they hold up.

Our neighbor across the street already has more gosh-dang figs than he knows what to do with, and more are still ripening up. I'd love to help 'cause he's a cool dude, but no one in our house really likes 'em very much.

Thanks dubz! I just spent the last 10 minutes playing with a frickin' whale on my screen! It needs sound though. Or maybe I should unmute my speakers and see if it does have some.

Haha. My father in law emailed that to me a bit ago. Thought I would pass it on.

Translated: Thanks Warrior, I haven't shown it to my kids yet, because I know they'll take away my fun. ;) :D

LMAO... More like i pulled it up and my 4 year old boy yells "OOOHHHH dolphin" and i say no whale.... then my 7 year old daughter yells "WHERE" from around the corner...

And then it took me a few minutes to trick them into thinking the whale was tired and they should give me the mouse back and let it sleep!
