I have been carrying a Leatherman Rebar for a few months. I can't believe how handy it is, and I have no idea how I went so long without one.

I have eyed down the Leatherman CX Skeletool a few times.

Saturday was "Market Days" in Bandera TX (The official Cowboy capitol of the world :) ) We went to the Pow Wow which is held outside of town and is a native american gathering. They have dancing and costume contest, stories, performances... it was a lot of fun!

Met a guy that did reenactment stuff and was very knowledgeable, he had a lot of reproductions guns and knives that he let people check out. He had some nice stuff.. we were talking trapdoor rifles with him for a while because my dad was thinking of getting one.

He had a nice collection of old west stuff..

This little ram head knife was pretty cool..

On a side note, I finally downloaded gimp and used it to lighten and fix the colors on the first photo, awesome program for free! Thanks again Warrior

*whispers seductively* Swiiiiiisstoooool...

No, seriously. Had a few Leathermans, didn't think they were very well-made or well thought out. I've had a Swisstool for 8 years now, and I'm beyond impressed how well it's held up.

Gimp is awesome. Google some tutorials, you'll be surprised what you can come up with.

Looks like a fun event. The wife and I try to go to Old Settlers Days in Kampsville every year. http://www.greatriverroad.com/RV/kSettle.htm

Fyi there's a BK71 available in the exchange for $115. Great price for that blade.
I might have jumped on it but I just popped on the BK12 that was there.:D

cOLD, that looks like a pretty awesome way to kill a day. The Bowies and hawks are pretty interesting looking. I know very little about Texas other than what I've learned through Charlie Robison songs.

That is very fitting, the "My Hometown" video was made in Bandera.. he plays a lot around San Antonio. He used to play the BBQ place my wife worked at a lot too.

He and his brother Bruce really rock. It's slower, but "My Brother and Me" is a great song.

That looks like a hoot! Thanks for the pics. I went to a couple pow-wows and heritage festivals back in WI, and we saw a cool storyteller/dancer in Cherokee NC a couple months ago. Fascinating stuff.

As to the multi-tool thang... I EDC'ed a Leatherman Blast for about a year and I'm quite pleased with it; The knife blade is, well... not all that great, but I carry real knives for knife work. (At that time my Blast and Camillus Becker Necker were my EDC... not a bad combo ;) ) The actual tools are solid. The file and saw actually file metal and saw wood.

I just never quite got used to carrying the extra weight in my coat or on my belt. Keep in mind though, 90% of the time I'm either at home or at work or going from one to the other, and I have/had massive tool-chests both places and a small toolbox in the car, so I just didn't need it much. It's great for a BOB or leaving in the glove-box, though... it currently resides in my tacklebox. The wife has a Gerber she likes quite a bit, but I refuse to use it. It's just cheap and flimsy-feeling.

I like having the Leatherman in my pocket (plus a real knife) so when I get out of my truck and don't have my tool pouch on yet I still have a screwdriver and pliers/wire strippers with me... sometimes I don't need anything else. And.. Skeletool has bottle opener as backup when I don't want to hand my necker to someone.

The bat I ordered from china a couple weeks ago came in today.

All I can say is WOW, this thing blows my mind.

Tons of organization via "micro-pockets" with heavy liner and bulid quality above that of the Wenger Swiss backpack lying on my floor.

I was good about diet today and earned a little treat.
Trade, you were so close. A little more notice next time...

In other news, my M-18 is damn sharp.
