Love Monday's being part of my weekend.

Shipped the kids off to my parents place for the afternoon so the wife and I could run some errands. Shes getting a massage right now, I'm having a beer and watching soccer. Monday win.

I had Sunday / Monday off for 10+ years... loved the combo of a weekend day and weekday together..

Yep id take a paid off car with free gas over paying gas on anything else.

Yeah, we did the math at tax time, and she came out way ahead on that deal.

Man..... Is the weekend really over???

There was a weekend? When you're self-employed the days all kinda blend together. :p For years I worked 4 days on, 10-12 hours and had Fri-Sat-Sun off. That had it's advantages for sure.

Love that Tackett stuff. How many people bought it?

:D

Pure sweetness there Psy. Love that Tackett stuff. How many people bought it?

I agree, great stuff, as a matter of fact, I'll have mine up for sale here in a bit, I love the thing, but I'm getting addicted to customs and really want to try either a JT Sidekick, or a Yuma, I'm thinking the Sidekick because I'd love to try CPM-3V.

I think 4 people bought it the first day then 2 the second, I just sort of snuck off with it though.

It was the "prize" for the chopping contest, but really people were just scared that you would get happy with that BK9, and mistake someone for a Poplar log....:p

Yep,

Works out awesome for me too as my Saturday at work is an early day. It's like getting 2.5 days off for my weekend. Not to mention you can get any weekday appointment you need to get done on the Monday.

Congrats on the Hornet bud!

Do you have any in tall extra fatass?

So just got back from my hike. The trail I was gonna hit...isn't there... I know exactly where the trailhead was, but it's not. So I drove over the mountain and hit another trail. Turned out that the one I hit was rated difficult and I don't disagree. Basically an old switchback road winding up the side of a dang mountain. And them mountains is high. Din't make it terribly far and had had enough and turned back. All-in-all two hours well spent plus getting there and back. My pack was way too heavy though. Probably don't need two days food and water for a trail a blind guy could follow plus a Heavy Warthog and a laplander. I don't get out enough though so at least I did that and I learned some stuff. Saw a wild turkey cross the trail about 50 yards ahead of me on my return but it wouldn't let me get a picture. As it was there wasn't much to see aside from the normal forest environment, but there's nothing wrong with that.

Rocky peak I spotted from the trail. Maybe that's why they're called the Rocky Mountains.

Burnt out tree trunk. Not sure when the fire was but it wasn't too recent as there weren't many signs. Just this and another burnt trunk and some discoloration on the evergreens that is easy to miss.

Obligatory knife pron. No Beckers on this trip. I know I'll catch hell for that but hey, I was already overloaded. This pic didn't turn out anywhere near how I wanted. The sun light kinda washed out the moss on the stump. Guess that's why I'm not a photographer.

Did a photo shoot with my ESEE stuff today. Like how this photo turned out:

The advantage of breaking down chairs and sofas for firewood, is that you've got plenty of batons with all the chair legs. Another advantage is that it's knot-free wood, and pretty straight. A 14 takes it with ease.

On the other side, you can see how soft the wood is when you look at the chair leg/baton. The 14 ate it up pretty badly, and that's just from splitting a few boards/planks.

It's fun though

Nice photo! How are you liking that fire steel? I really like mine. Yours looks cooler though. Mine is just the bare metal color.

Do you have a pic of the candiru and the Hornet? I am curious as to the size difference.

Jeremy

Cool, G-Shark, except usually furniture is made out of Particle board, which doesn't make very nice feather sticks....LOL

No apologies necessary. I'd enjoy it to see more warthogs getting beat on.

The Candiru looks like a handy little knife. Almost hornet-ish in that respect.

I like it. First few strikes lit a piece of char cloth right up. The Hornet is smaller. I have a photo, but can't find the damn thing.

Here ya go, took another:

EDIT: Knew I had one, thought I was losing my mind:

At the risk of sounding like a snob, good furniture that lasts more than a few years or one or two moves is made of real wood, not particle board. It costs more up front, but when you have to move every two to three years in the military, it pays for itself by not having to replace it so often.

I hate Particle board, I've seen many, many, pieces of furniture that have collapsed under very light use.
