Awesome pic! I like how it looks like he is holding you back, lol... I bet the desire to swing that sword at something was overpowering! :)

Honesty does not permit me to deny this comment. It's a beastly blade, and surprisingly well balanced for the heft. It doesn't handle exactly like a katana, but I sure wouldn't want to get in the way of it.

I field dressed my deer with my 0560 last year. Hell of a blade and super fun to flip.

Probably the knife that got me hooked on Elmax. Although I have considered having it reground and turned into a slicing sumbich.

I need to quit looking at Emersons and ZT's before I do something bad.

No problem!

Heard that!!!! Me too.

Doc

Me THREE! I will be getting a 0562CF when they are available, even thouhg there are some Beckers still left to get (the 4). I cannot resist that blade. It is the Borg of the ZT line in my book.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch, I ordered another 24 without consultation with the wife...she's gonna be pissed, LOL (na, maybe not, who knows)

Yeah... That's the one I'm looking at.... You're not helping at all...

Thanks buddy!

I think I need a hornet.

Jeremy

No problem. The Hornet is a comfortable, and handy as hell blade. You'd love it. I sometimes carry it on my belt, and forget it's even there.

He an I have grown a lot since then. One thing I cannot get him into though is knives. He just doesn't find them that interesting. Maybe in a few years. :)
Thanks buddy. We still Geocache together and have a good time, but in recent years, he's really become interested in Superhero comics (Marvel and DC) and the movies and Legos (minifigures) that go with them. So, we do that together a lot these days.
Great article, Tom. It's great that the whole family goes.a

In that photo you look like you're about to break into a seriously maniacal grin.....MUAHAHAHAHA!!! Actually looks like if you had a thought bubble, it would say something like..."..........holy sh!t!!! wouldja look at this awesomeness I am actually holding?.....why can't I stop smiling?.....

It is super fun to flip with the ball bearings and just the thunk! of the locking bar engaging makes me shiver a little. The edge is definitely on the fat side, though. Still sharp as hell, but not nearly as slicey as one normally expects from a pocket knife.

:D I found a guy in NYC that was willing to ship me his for $150. I need to sell off my last Smith & Wesson Chinese folder before I check back with him to see if its available. Fingers are crossed he still has it when I email him later this week.

Of course crimson had to throw in that bit about the trees and shit. I'll never live that BS down.:D

In all honesty, that comment had almost nothing to do with you. We had commented that in his videos, he just casually walks up, chops a tree down with a couple hits, and often back-hands it out of the way, with nothing in the way of commentary. That effect certainly makes him look like the great deforester.

Yes. That sums it up pretty much perfectly. Getting to handle that piece was nothing short of amazing to me.

Murph - if you need a 14, drop me a line, I haven't mutilated the one I got at Blade yet.

No apologies necessary. I'd enjoy it to see more warthogs getting beat on.

I've tested it out a little but have not really used it much. Actually I haven't used most of my knives very much except the BK9 and a Mora Companion. I have an original warthog that's 15 years old. It's been used some but only has some scuff marks on the coating. They need to bring that one back.

That RAT-1 was brand new when I left the apartment this morning. As I was sticking other knives in the stump it fell out and went tumbling down some dirt and rocks with the blade open. Didn't hurt it, but as it was happening I was a little concerned.

At the risk of sounding like a snob, good furniture that lasts more than a few years or one or two moves is made of real wood, not particle board. It costs more up front, but when you have to move every two to three years in the military, it pays for itself by not having to replace it so often.

I just buy all my stuff at the thrift store. When I moved from Oregon most of it went in the dumpster.

This with be the third time I've let a BK5 go, I guess it's not meant to be.

Dang. That was a good deal.

So I bought this home over a year ago... as with any older home it came with its own "uniqueness" LOL... One thing that I have actually enjoyed is that since we bought the home we have been sharing our backyard with a big fat frog! (toad whatever lol) He sits out by the back door light and eats bugs every night or so. He was there all last summer and disappeared during the winter, then back again this spring/summer! If he is outside I typically will find him a couple of june bugs or what not to feed him. He is not scared of me or anything just waits on me to feed him :D The only thing I could not find was his home. I looked for it but couldnt find his usual burrow... SO today I walked outside to use the phone, turned around and there the frog was.. curled up and asleep... like a cat... in some towels that were accidentally left outside next to the back door. I patted him on the head to see if he was still alive and the fat guy just slowly opened his eyes and looked at me like... "whats up?" So I took some pics to share... The pics dont really show how ginormously fat he is. Here is my fat backyard tenant.. or maybe we are his indoors tenants... lol

Becker handle for scale. I think if he sat on the knife handle he would completely cover it up! Jabba the Hut esque sized frog...

*ribbit....

I was at work and there was a frog hanging out under a porch light going to town on the bugs. Did not give a single rat's ass about anyone coming or going.

Kershawguy.com has the new Kershaw/Emerson collabs in stock and they're only like $34. I'll be ordering some soon.

Those are tempting, but so is the ESEE Avispa (think 3.5" blade Zancudo). I'm quite enamored by the Emerson Jungle Commander and the CQC7AW with the spear point.

I don't often say this, but DAMN it feels good to be a gangsta! (in the kitchen)

Made carnitas from scratch, then made refried beans (yes by mashing up once cooked beans and then cooking them again), and made spanish rice (by mashing up spain and cooking... wait a second) It was A-FRICKIN-MAZING supper!

In other news - I think I'll be pulling the trigger on another 11, a 14 or 24. Not sure yet. I have no plans to use it though.
I let a good friend borrow my trusty old 11 and I kind of want it back. Unfortunately, he is now caught in Ethan's web. He's done quite a bit here recently to help me out as well as help a little stove idea I had come to fruition..... So I figured I would help repay the favor.

Besides, he made this sweet ass clip for my 11 while it was in his possession.

Another friend sent me a video of him using my necker to baton down to use in one of our stoves earlier today. It seems their power went out and he was going to use it to cook up some grub. Glad to see my Becker is being properly cared for.
