The New Snark

If you only went to spend around 100, take a look at the Tops BOB Fieldcraft

I've got one coming in the mail. Should be on my doorstep tomorrow!
I've heard some decent things about it.
Any BOB owners out there wanna share their thoughts on the knife?...

I have one, and have never used it. I do like the feel of it though. It has a handle that actually fits my hand.

the Bravo 1 and it is a whole lotta knife. It is hands down the sharpest knife I own.

is that one A2, like many of the others?
I can get A2 sharp like nothing else for the effort. Just stropped up that orange knife a few minutes ago and shaved curls on a (white) hair with little effort.

In other news, I forgot how difficult it is to sheath my Hiker model... no retention features. From here on out they'll have tubes in the front pin location...
Might have to punt and make or buy a leather sheath for this one... gotta get back to other projects.

I never liked the way the Laser Strike felt in hand......actually most ESEE knives are lacking in the comfy handle department (except my Candiru with g10 scales...I love the way that fits)....Too bad ESEE doesnt get with Ethan and make a knife with Becker handles and ESEE blade shape:D

I've never held the laser strike before but I'm going to the big mountain knife shop so ill get a chance to see it and a bunch if others, I guess that's when I'll decide

the laser strike has love them or hate them handles - I was not a fan.
I'll not comment on BRKT

OTOH - the ESEE CM6 is pretty nice....
I'm expecting big things with that camp lore line. It's pretty BA! I really like the RB knife. And the JG knife isn't bad either! Also, it's been reported with the T-K-C handles it makes that knife leaps and bounds better. I personally don't mind it, I'm just not sure what that knife is trying to be. Is it a big knife trying to be small or a small knife trying to be big.

m18 number the second in the house
Which number IS it?! You hoarder! You need to let them be free! Don't you know?!

So you're saying the OPPOSITE of the 14? Esee handle with Becker blade just doesn't do "it" for you?!

In other news, I was told "when you make the knife able to shave the stubble the other knife leaves behind, it's time to put down the strop" I dunno if I believe that totally... But I moved onto stropping another knife anyway.

I LOVE my 14, its one of my most used knives. I was just snarking. I too am looking forward to the RB3-a beefier handled, scandi ground 3.....whats not to love?

Hehehe. I think that's a reasonable statement regarding marginal investment vs. marginal gain. Your time IS valuable, after all. You could be selling it for cash so you can buy more knives from me. Let me see what's laying around that's been used a bit.... ;)

Went back to the drawing board. I think I like the new drawing much better. Nothing is set in stone. Just messing around before I start cutting it out of the steel.

What do you guys think? The new one is on the bottom. Looking to do a convex grind on it.

Jeremy
Looks good Jeremy, I like it. It looks like it would be slicey, comfy, yummy!

Is the JG3 the canterbury collab? Because that's on I'm excited about
It's the James Gibson collab.

nope JG3 has a 3" blade. In my understanding, the DC6 hasn't had all the design and licensing wrinkles ironed out yet.

That knife wouldn't be worth it, it's a used, and abused BK-14. It's actually my brother's knife. He used it as a "test piece" on a belt grinder so I had to fix it. Good lord that was... *shakes head*

You got a 115% laying around? I need me one of them! What I'm really wanting from you is your version of a sheepsfoot. I think after your working on the boat you might have an interesting take on it.

ETA: That is actually going to have to be the 3rd knife in line to buy. First is the TMHunt Desk knife (It's mine! Ya'll can back off!), Then I'm getting a Sam Owens ARK prototype not spyderco production version. So the 115% will be third.

Selling my BK15 to recoup funds for my little problem, link below if you old geezers are interested.

I have for sale a lightly abused BK15.

fixed it for you

Whatever do you mean?...

I was going to say something to you about that, and yes, I think I've screwed up every dang knife I've owned,
...Let's see, I've screwed up my BK14 on a bench grinder, I've bent my BK16, I've bent my BK15, I've pounded on a Nail with my BK9 'till it should have broke, I've screwed up the Tackett twice! Once on a thin edge, the other was on concrete (sent it to Matt, made it better than new). Also, I flattened the edge on my BK11 with a belt sander, while I was making scales for it.

Oh I see! :D

As far as the Dave C. Collaboration goes:

Personally I hope Jeff and Mike scrap the idea or put it on the production list after the Izulu folder:D- I'd rather not see a bunch of Canterburyites buying a bunch of ESEEs because Dave said its his fave knife of the week.
From a marketing/business perspective, ESEE would be foolish not to do it, they will sell a ton just because it has Dave's name on it.

Jeremy

I really like the looks of that bottom one Jeremy!
Looking forward to seeing your progress!

Personally I've always been a fan if Dave, but I first saw the blind horse version of the knife before I even knew who he was, but I just couldn't justify the price, so I hope that this is a much less expensive option
