2017 brought us the stud of out-there patterns, the Calf Pen! Love it, can't get enough of it.But it seems in the second five they had a few more “out there” patterns. I love em all though.
The calf pen may be the king of the weirdos, but honestly feels “right” in hand. I’ve always been curious if there’s some historical precedent for the blade combo, or if it was just a wild idea that made it to production.
Using the screwdriver bit has never once occurred to me while I was actually carrying that knife.Did any one ever make use of the flat head screw driver on that?
Ive heard you are not supposed to torque traditionals as it might loosen the pivot given enough torque. That was one of my early reasons for getting rid of the ebony or micarta beer scout that I had way back then. Also not a fan of the bail, and gimmicky bottle openers, I collect bottle openers and have several from 99 cents stores that do the job spectacularly. But with the calf pen closed, i reckon it would make it a functionable tool as a flat head in a pinch. Im sure Randy's engineering is solid tho, he did used to work for NASA.Using the screwdriver bit has never once occurred to me while I was actually carrying that knife.I have a feeling it will now.
Maybe I'll just leave the screw-driving to the screwdrivers. Like you mention, the Calf Pen driver is on the liner (and probably fine to use) but why chance it.Ive heard you are not supposed to torque traditionals as it might loosen the pivot given enough torque.
I've learned, and I keep re-learning, that I can't be trusted with a bail. If there's a bail around, I've probably closed a blade on it.Also not a fan of the bail

Thanks for starting this thread, Jack!! I love nostalgia, and it is showing up in spades here!!I had the ebony wood from 2013! my ocd did not allow for that big spot in the middle of the handle for the lock back![]()
Yes - one of mine! Up to a point - I can't remember which year - all the TCs were mine exclusively! Then Bill started producing some "Good as Gold" marked ones for his dealers who never signed up with me!Better pics
