John is always up at the crack of 4:30am -

I drive up from Peoria, so I'll be there around 8:30 am - depending on what time I get on the road.

Hey John - I think Kirill is coming up with me as well.

Yvonne and I were just in the New Mars Cheese Castle last weekend, and some other woman, and I were gazing over the chocolate isle! She was telling me that they now have chocolate with bacon in it! She was looking for some! I was just marveling at the amount of different chocolate candy they have there! You have to be a rich person to buy any but, it still doesn't cost you anything to look at this point! Yvonne and I were both marveling at the new building, and the varieties of everything that they have there now! It makes the old store look like Mr. Fox's corner grocery, when I was a kid! You know the kind of little corner, Mom & Pop store, that sold fresh eggs, cut your bologna, lunch meats and cheeses for you, any thickness you liked! A candy isle that would choke a horse, you could get a whole fist full of candy of a penny! You youngon's won't know anything about that kind of stuff but, it used to be true! You guys missed the good ole days!

Anyway, just wanted to let you know that it looks like I won't be making this "Gathering" unfortunately! It looks like I might still be in the hospital, if I am lucky enough to make it to a room! I may be away from the computer for some time but, I will be thinking of you guys down at John's having a good time!

I will be spending a lot of time around the hospital in Kenosha for the next week or so, and hopefully be in St. Luke's up in Milwaukee by the second week! It looks like they will be removing half of my right lung, and it is pretty risky in a lot of different ways, so we really aren't sure how things are going to go! This is a wake up call for all you young people that I tell every day, that the damage you do to yourself in your younger years, and the things that you think will never happen too you, will eventually happen to you, and come back to haunt you in your old age! Any of you people out there that are still smoking, you are not going to be the one person that beats the system! It is eventually going to catch up with you! None of us get out of this world without paying the piper, for whatever wrong doings you have done to yourself! That's my Soap-Box Cermon for the day!

Just wanted to let you all know if the worst case cinario comes to pass, that it has been a great pleasure for me to know each and everyone of you! I've enjoyed our "Gatherings" to no end! Just remember to make the guy that is standing next to you happy about being there, and all of you will be happy to share each others company, and everyone will be happy!

I am planning to start one last thread to first show off John's handy work of making one of the nicest knives I have ever had! The Early Style Hunter! It looks much different than it did the day John turned it over to me at the January 5th, 2012"Gathering", in the snow! Anyway, watch for that! I think I did my own handy work on it after John!

Take care guys,
ft

Get well soon Tom, I was at the Jan.5 gathering when I met you and you were so kind to me,like you've known me all your life. That really made me feel great. Medical technology has come a long way,I think things will be fine for you. I'll keep you in my prayers. Many years ago my mother had a collapsed lung and spent a long time in the hospital. She had a strong will and survived many years with the function of just one lung. Medical procedures are much better now. Stay strong.

Great point John - I have a good friend, co-worker and shootin' buddy that just had part of a lung removed and he was back up, walking around and eating meatloaf (!) in 4 days after the surgery. Tom is a fighter and tough, so I hope they do a great job for him!

There will always be a pint waiting for you Tom.

Indeed!

Hang in there Tom, fight back to bacon eating status as soon as you can. We're all thinking of you and prayig for you Dan

I will be coming. Nobody mentioned a protein, should I pick up some burgers or something?

Hi Steve -

The theme of this gathering is bacon. Bring something with bacon.

I will bring Bacon Cheeseburger Pizza to the gathering.
