Nathan,
Conceptually, I think the wait list thread in conjunction with the Friday sales with someone doing one or the other, but not both, is a good idea in general. But how do you police that? And you WILL be asked to police it. Someone is #32 on the wait list, but they decide, what the heck, I'm going to go for a Friday sale knife because I don't want to wait. What if they score in the Friday sale and then decide to give their spot to someone who couldn't make the wait list and doesn't have time for the Friday sale? What if they "sell" their spot to such a person? Are they an A=hole? What if someone on the wait list says, "I want 5 knives." They get them and then sell four of them at cost to their buddies because that was the plan all along? Are they an A-hole?
Look, these are rhetorical questions, but I think they should be thought about. For some, getting around the system is a challenge. For some, making money is the challenge. Who are you to say, or who are any of us for that matter, to say what is appropriate or not once a knife has been sold? Where is the objective boundary and who decides where the boundary is? The devil IS in the details.
I want a Field knife. One field knife. For myself and to use. That's it. It's very simple and I understand that is one of your primary and ultimate goals--getting your knives into the hands of folks who want them. I just wonder if you are inadvertently setting yourself up for more of a headache than anyone anticipates. I am not trying to be negative, just forward-looking for potential potholes in the road. Still, I don't know that I have a better solution.
