THE NO BOUNDRIES PORCH GAW WINNER ANNOUNCED POST 109

I haven't been able to get a GEC knife yet, it's just not been in the budget :( I'd love to be counted in on this one!

What I love about the Porch is that we can come here to share info about something as simple as finding old knives at a flea market and the people here will only not judge the amount you spent or the blades you are sharing, but will most often offer positive feedback and useful information about the materials used or even the history behind it. If you were to suggest a new member try an old Imperial Barlow for $5 as an EDC almost anywhere other than the Porch, the reaction can be more than negative. I've seen people be downright disrespected over making such suggestions when we all know it to be a solid choice. The welcoming atmosphere, the generosity, and willingness to help each other out is leaps and bounds beyond any other community I've been a part of. Time, respect, experience, and appreciation here are all core values of the Porch.

Now I offer a pic of my 2 nicest traditionals!

It seems the excitement is over so I going to bump this one more time in case someone else wants to throw there name in the hat. If no more interest I am going to go ahead and end this tomorrow and select a winner.
Good luck to all and thanks to all that entered.
Randy

I'll take a chance and step in. I am posting one of the very first knives that I brought to the Porch. I was, and still am, relatively new to the knife collecting community and I simply needed some information. I found that immediately, and also found encouragement, a wondrous exposure to knives that it would take a lifetime and a fortune to see, insight into personal skills of fellow Porch sitters, and an occasional kind pat on the back. All of this because a couple of folks took the time to look at and educate me on this knife:

Thanks, Randy, but mostly to all on the Porch.

While I am relatively new to BF I have really enjoyed my interactions here and there are lots of threads of great interest to me - I especially like "Old Knives" among many others (Golden Age of Sheffield, Guardian of the Lambfoot" etc) - I quite enjoy the GEC posts but I only have 2 GEC knives so with my budget been focusing more on oldies when I can swing it - but indeed GEC makes a great knife in traditional fashion which accordingly makes for great EDCs... lots of special kind people on the porch... generous, helpful, complimentary and all the best attributes one likes on a public forum...

Thanks for the chance Randy  ... I really am not a lucky person but maybe one of these days - I am not getting any younger  ...

Best
Lee

I'm in!
Can't believe I almost missed this. Have been a bit busy lately.

My favorite thing about the porch is that we discuss knives. Having that in common brought us together and keeps us together. It may seem like a simple topic, but it's obvious there's plenty to talk about.

View attachment 765454 First, I want to say thank you to Randy for his generosity and for just being an all-around great person. I would like to be in on this although my contributions here so far have been limited. I look forward to coming to the porch every day and learning from everyone and sharing in the overall camaraderie that is displayed amongst the members here. I don't think a day passes that a smile doesn't come up on my face from a visit here. I hope everyone has a great day!!!

Congratulations!

Thank you SO much Randy. In the short time that I have participated here, it quickly became quite apparent of your great generosity and your willingness to help those that were new here and were trying to learn more about this great hobby of ours. Thank you for this opportunity to win this GAW and all that you contribute to BF. I can't believe I won, I never win anything. The only time my number gets called is when somebody lays out of work and they need someone to cover for them!!! :) thank you again Randy and to all the members that participated. NOW...... Choices, Choices...Hummmm!!! I think I'm seeing a new 35 in my future!!!
