THE NO BOUNDRIES PORCH GAW WINNER ANNOUNCED POST 109

This is a genius competition. I'm in!

(This knife doesn't get as much pocket carry as it used to, but I need to find an excuse to carry it more. Ugly but works like a DREAM.)

The Porch is great - to see and learn so much about a topic I otherwise would have never managed to sort out on my own. It's helped me come up to speed on a great deal of history, and at the same time help me hone in on what modern elements really speak to me. The world needs more places to pull up a chair, set a spell, and learn a thing or two.
Ever thought about modifying that into a normal clip blade ? Remove that little bump at the end and you've got an awesome looking knife.

Meh; I use it as a pinch point to open it, and the hump doesn't bother me so much. I need to take it back to the sharpening plate to un-round-off the tip, but the blade shape exoticness is part of its rustic charm for me.

Not an entry, but this is a characteristically generous act on your part, Randy!!:cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:
There are countless things I've learned to like about The Porch in the 3 years I've been here. :)
Here are some of them:
the people,
the pocket knives,
the pics,
the pleasantries and praises,
the pranks,
the prejudicelessness,
the generosity with time, knowledge, knives,
the acceptance.
Here's a knife that recently arrived (after I drooled over it for years):

Just want to say how very happy I am with all the entries and beautiful knives posted. I wish I could give everyone a prize. I remember the last time I gave a gift certificate Black Mamba won and used it with some extra cash to buy a Bark River he had been wanting. He was smiling so big you could see it through the computer screen and that is why I do these GAW's for me it's just as exciting to see the winners reaction and know you have just made their day perhaps even their week. I think that's as fun as it is to win something plus you guys and gals make the Porch the best little forum around.

Too generous, Mr. Redden. I enjoy all of your unique GAWs. I will abstain, since I keep telling myself that I need to pare down the GEC collection, but here is one of my old favorites:

The porch is the sharpest place around. I learn so much every day, and not just about knives...

Randy, this is an incredibly generous giveaway and it represents the caliber of person you are perfectly. As I just won a great giveaway and have also been quite blessed with the generosity the Porch is renowned for, I will politely abstain from entering.

However, I would still like to share my sentiments regarding one of my favorite places on the Internet.

It wasn't long after I had joined BladeForums that I discovered the Porch and it was while I was perusing the "What are ya totin?" thread that I felt compelled to share a knife that I very regularly carry, though I never use as it is more of a keepsake or memento more than anything. It belonged to my dad who had recently passed away at the time and it was a way for me to carry around some very positive memories of him. Though I don't recall exactly who or what was said in response to my first contribution here, I do remember being struck by the sheer kindness that was demonstrated towards a brand new guy who practically appeared out of nowhere.

It is that memory that I will always attribute to the spirit of The Porch. There are terrific people here and their immensely high quality gets demonstrated every day. I consider myself extremely fortunate to be able to call this place, though virtual/digital, a second home. I know we are gathered here because of our mutual enthusiasm for traditional cutlery but the Porch seems to draw folks of a particular caliber. Not only does the knowledge and experience get shared freely, but the knives themselves seem to flow like water betwixt the members here.

All in all, this is an exceptional corner of the forums, and the very best place on the Internet. Thank you, Randy, and thanks to all you other Porch residents for making this the place that it is.

Don't be surprised if we never hear from the winner ever again after this, there are so many possibilities that their brain might explode :D
I tried to for a minute to think about what one might chose, and it was a bit too much to handle ;)

I appreciate all I've learned from other members of the forum, and the way everyone is welcome here.
I got this one from you, Randy, and I appreciate your making it available at an affordable price!
Thanks for this thoughtful GAW, which is full of great pictures!

Randy, you are a prince among men. I'm honored to be included. This is destined for the new arrivals thread but will give a sneak peek here

It's fitting place for this beauty, for without the Porch I would never have found it, discovered a love of traditionals, and the great folks that make it all possible.

Randy, thanks a lot for your generosity, my friend - you're a champ.:)

I've just enjoyed reading through all the answers here.

The thing that brought me to the Porch first was seeking knowledge and information, and there sure is a wealth of it here. But what keeps me here, is what many others have experienced too: genuine community spirit, decency and friendship that transcends distance and national boundaries; selfless behaviour and generosity, and respect for other people, whatever their interest in traditional knives may be.

Thanks to everyone here, for making The Porch the great place that it is. I'm in.
