The Official Beckers and Booze Thread

Argh!!!! Why does everyone have access to this but me!?!?

How do you like it?

I love it! I have had three snifters of it. It smells good and tastes good - and is surprisingly smooth.

It is charcoal mellowed.

Andy! Where'd you find that?!

Some Biscuit told me it is only available in TN. right now.:D

Yes - I was lucky enough to find a Tennessee Squire who made me a very happy Squire!

Just got the Knob Creek today, damn that's some tasty stuff!

This the winner. Good quality bourbon and it is served correctly, neat. No ice cubes fouling up your drink.

How is that Crown Maple Bsmith_shoot? My uncle left a bottle for me because he couldn't take the smell of it. I thought it sounded interesting ,but haven't tried it yet.

Surprisingly good. The smell is great to me, and its smooth to the pallet. But I warn you, its deffinately not for everyone. My dad is a crown drinker, and he described it as liquid pancake. Its really great to use in candy making tho. Bourbon balls are awesome with it.

You know what else would be good to use it in is like a bourbon maple glazed pork chop, maybe with some dijon mustard too? Mmm.

Agreed! Scotch I will take with an ice cube or two, maybe even a splash of water but bourbon is best served neat to get the full flavor profile. That's the Knob Creek in that glass. If I ever make it to a Becker West me and you will share many a glass.

1: Making Limoncello. I let lemon zest sit in Everclear for about 2-3 weeks then strain through cheese cloth, combine with a lot of simple syrup, and bottle.

I see you found the same recipe I did, though I typically use one fifth of Everclear at a time. I've got a bottle in the freezer right now.

I need to make two fifths at a time because by the time it's done I've got a lot of people who have asked for a bottle/been told they would get one. This recipe seems to be a typical methodology. I am not fond of the recipes that use Vodka in place of Everclear, as in my opinion you are just making flavored Vodka instead of Limoncello. Also I have some real Italians in my family and they told me Everclear is more traditional, also the higher ABV works better for leaching the oils out of the lemon zest.

This was our last unopened Christmas gift at work.. our salesmen came through with good presents :)

drinking that stuff makes a lot of stuff i typically drink seem like bug juice ;}

though some of the nice shine is stronger, it doesn't have that nice plum taste :)

I keep it simple, Mount Gay Special Reserve, club soda, fresh limes, and chopped mint...Mojito!
When I'm just in a simpler mood, then it's just the rum, bottled in glass Coke, and lime juice...Cuba Libre!
