The official collection thread

Great collection and a story to go with it. I love a collection with a history and a good explanation. I thought David Boye invented the midlock lock back. Anyway great shot.

I went back and re-read the article about those three guys that I have in my bookmarks. It actually refers to their lock as "front" not "mid-" so I may certainly be wrong about that. I'm not real big on back-locks and don't have many in my collection. The one on my Sage certainly seems more mid- than front- to me, but what do I know, not being a back-lock fan-boy.

I always think of David Boye as relates to the Boye-dent style of back-lock. You could certainly be correct in your assessment and recollection, though, Ted.

I only have the more common contemporary production folders, but I'll offer a couple of groups.

My Axis lock collection. A Crooked River is on the way.

A wee cluster of Para2's each with a different blade steel, 3 with scales changed. The CF/M4 not shown, Cruwear not here yet, need new pics soon.

Chazzy, you are correct, I missed the fact it didn't have the divot in the top of the lock. It most definitely was not by David Boye, thanks for pointing that out, I'm a little embarrassed I missed it. :o

I think that knives like the Boye folders have a front lock with a mid release. Knives like the Buck 110 have front lock with a rear release. I have never seen a Boye dent on the latter probably because the release location isn't in the gripping area.

Here are some of my "collections":

Gotta learn to pace yourself there buckaroo, now you've shown your entire collection you have nothing we haven't seen, gotta learn to slow the roll comin' outta the gate or you're spent before ya cross the finish line. :)

Embarrassed, Ted? Don't be silly--if you didn't miss something every once in a while, you'd be way too good to be here with the rest of us. ;)

I'm sorry I haven't had the appetite for Spydies I used to have, I started when they first came out and have gotten all the early firsts, Maybe later today I'll take one of my Spydies. I like the look of the Manix just didn't like the way the lock looked, never got one. I have the Bug boxed collection which comes with the three Bug Knives they make, the Bug, the Honeybee and Grasshopper, an instant collection.

Out of curiosity, do you use the Manixes (SP?)?

I have three CF scaled folders. They just happen to be my three favorite folders. If the blade on my Techno was 1/16th thinner, it would beat out the Chaparral.

The entire collection doesn't all have 3 piece or more sets, but there are 4 Para-Military 2's, 3 SAK's, 4 Benchmade's, and 3 handmade knives there to qualify.

The Manix2 is one of my favorite knives to use. I carry one often (love the Cruwear sprint) and a Lightweight is always close. In fact, I'm not sure why I need any knife other than the S110v Lightweight... It is an amazing tool that punches well above its weight and cost. The ergos are nearly unparalleled for me and the blade is perhaps the best leaf shape ever made, ready for heavy work but a good slicer as well. I clearly recommend you try one ASAP :)
