Nice, not sure what that knot pattern is called, I'm pretty set on my diamond knots for the most part and a whipping thread at the handle's edge to keep things centered and less flopping around.

I ordered a new bead for my Rainmaker back in mid-August from the Artsy/Craftsy Site and it arrived a week ago Saturday, just before we left for Vermont the next day. I knew it was big when I ordered it--at 19mm maybe too big--but I liked the look of it and thought the textured, blue ano'd Ti with gold highlights would be a nice complement to the knife. I had wanted to try the double diamond knot for enough size to match the bead and to help keep it from banging up the knife, but the signal was too weak and intermittent up north at the cabin to watch the Youtube vid and couldn't remember it well enough to get it tied. I ended up with two False Turk's Heads (single Diamonds) on the only 750 cord I have. I'm not crazy about the color and the giant, fairly loose knots so I'll practice the doubles and try those with some 550 King Tut or the dark blue with black I like so well. Here's what I did up north last week.

Thanks. :) It is indeed from TiCreatures. I just discovered his stuff--it's really nice looking and fairly priced too. It got to me from Slovakia in a couple weeks which, given the state of things in the world today, is pretty damn good.

I’m new here:

What exactly do lanyards do for knife carrying folk? Are they typically added to smaller handled knives, to make them easier to grip? Or are they just for looks?

Dont quote me on this but lanyard which the term everybody uses to describe this type of thing and fob, unfortunately the term lanyard is commonly uses for both. Lanyard is typically a chain or a cord attached to your knife. That lanyard is then latched to your belt or wrist in case it might falls or get lost. Fobs is a small paracord, typically from 3" to 7" are used to aid you to pull out your knife out of your pocket. Fobs are quite handy if your knife handle is short as it might adds a couple extra inches. But normally its just to embellish the knife, to add a little flair to it.

Yes to answer your question it is used for both way, utility and embellishments.

i find tying lanyards on the bottom of knives to be intrusive and often times get in the way, my friend is always picking lint and pocket debris out of his lanyard, lanyards on keys make more sense to me than on the bottom of a knife, however, if it was matter of visibility when using it in nature then i can understand

On this particular small but useful knife, adding a fob made it possible to get a couple more fingers tensioned against the handle and keep it more stable.
