The Official ZT0562 Thread!! (FIRST LOOK)

Any online retailers have the CF version in stock? I have a preorder with kc but not holding my breath.

I'm on the sidelines at the moment as well. Whatever issues occur with new ZT knives normally get sorted out by the time the first run has been produced and delivered. And the 0562CF is an open production knife. So I'm letting the first run go by before I buy. :)

This is a wise man talking here, pay attention boys. Actually I broke two of my self-imposed collecting rules with this one. The above mentioned one (let them work the bugs out first), and don't buy a new knife until I've held one personally. This 0562cf was a bit of a whim, but I took a chance because of the M390, carbon fiber, smaller-than-0560 size, and my general respect for ZT quality.

So far I haven't found any production flaws, and only one or two design features that I wish were different. That's not bad given its production #of 0174 of the run. Rather than opine here, I'll wait for other buyers to get theirs to play with and draw their own conclusions. I'll just say that I'm impressed and greatly satisfied with this knife. It's a home run for KAI.

I've held the 0562CF and it is awesome. The awesome polish-to-stonewash finish on the blade is clean looking and emphasizes the blade grind so well. The flipper action is incredibly smooth. Most of the time I'm not satisfied with the detent on ZT's flippers, some models it's a workout to break it free; on the ZT0562CF it's perfect.

I'm jealous of the ones that picked one up.

I can't wait to get my hands on a 562cf, waiting like a kid at Christmas for someone to tell me they have them in stock. I ordered the regular 562 version which I hope shows up quickly, which will tide me over until the cf is available

i picked up the 562 locally this week and am completely thrilled with it. it was a bit of an impulse buy and i honestly did not expect to like it as much as i do. so much so that i will definitely be in for the cf when it comes out. if it's not perfect for my uses it is extremely close

So for those who own both the 560 and either version of the 562, do you feel the 562 is a must have and big improvement over the 560? I know the knives are different, but just looking for opinions. Thanks

I own both. I was intrigued by the blade steel in 562CF, that's the main reason I bought it. And the smaller handle is nice. Always felt like 560's handle is a bit too large for my medium-sized hands. 562's pocket clip is just fantastic, it completely hides the knife in your pocket whereas the 560's clip does not. Then again the jimping on 560 is denifitely more to my taste. The differences are small, maybe if elmax was the only option for blade steel in 562 I would not have bought it. I also have elmax 566 which has been my go-to edc blade for nearly half a year now.

You asked for opinions, so here's mine.

The primary purpose of the 0562 (and particularly the 0562CF) is to bring the Hinderer 3.5'" XM-18 Flipper to the masses. If folks want to compare the 0562CF to another folder, the XM-18 is the folder they should be comparing it to. Having said that, 0562-series knives stand on their own merits and can legitimately be compared to folders in and out of the ZT lineup. But to my mind, the real question isn't whether the 0562CF is a big improvement over the 0560, it's whether the 0562CF is a big improvement over the XM-18 . . . particularly for those of us who aren't Mil/LEO/EMT. On paper and based on initial impressions we're receiving from folks who have gotten their 0562CFs, the answer to that question may already be a foregone conclusion. But I, for one, will keep my money in my pocket until some OBJECTIVE comparative reviews between the 0562CF and the XM-18 start coming in. (Hat's off in advance to the first person who performs that analysis on behalf of BF members. :) )

Thanks for the response Mika,

I agree with you about the elmax. If it was the only option I'd probably not consider buying, but I like the materials in the CF version and as you stated about the handle size, it may just be the perfect size for me.

Thanks, I hear what you're saying and I agree about the comparison between the 562 the XM-18, but I was basing my comparison more on price points and materials and my personal interests in general.

Thanks for the pics Therealtwitch! I hope KC will have the 0562cf in stock soon! Cant wait to get my hands on it!

If BladeHQ had them up on their website as in stock I wonder if that means they filled all their pre-orders first or if they just split the shipment some for pre-orders some for online sales. That would have had to have been a huge shipment if they filled all the pre-orders, we've seen dozens of posts about people pre-ordering with them since SHOT.

Is the blade relieved on both sides for the bearings or just one? looks like just one with the relief being put into the handle slab on the lock bar side. Seems like a lot of the pivot pin/blade rotational surface has been lost by making such a large relief into the blade and it's now off center axis, but I suppose it's the only way to keep the knife thin and still fit bearings in there.

The thing is, I have had one on pre-order with them, so I was surprised to see them in stock since my pre-order hasn't shipped yet. I am 100% certain the site had them listed as in stock though, I triple checked and refreshed the page a few times to make sure I wasn't seeing things lol
