I'm on the sidelines at the moment as well. Whatever issues occur with new ZT knives normally get sorted out by the time the first run has been produced and delivered. And the 0562CF is an open production knife. So I'm letting the first run go by before I buy.![]()
So for those who own both the 560 and either version of the 562, do you feel the 562 is a must have and big improvement over the 560? I know the knives are different, but just looking for opinions. Thanks
I own both. I was intrigued by the blade steel in 562CF, that's the main reason I bought it. And the smaller handle is nice. Always felt like 560's handle is a bit too large for my medium-sized hands. 562's pocket clip is just fantastic, it completely hides the knife in your pocket whereas the 560's clip does not. Then again the jimping on 560 is denifitely more to my taste. The differences are small, maybe if elmax was the only option for blade steel in 562 I would not have bought it. I also have elmax 566 which has been my go-to edc blade for nearly half a year now.
You asked for opinions, so here's mine.
The primary purpose of the 0562 (and particularly the 0562CF) is to bring the Hinderer 3.5'" XM-18 Flipper to the masses. If folks want to compare the 0562CF to another folder, the XM-18 is the folder they should be comparing it to. Having said that, 0562-series knives stand on their own merits and can legitimately be compared to folders in and out of the ZT lineup. But to my mind, the real question isn't whether the 0562CF is a big improvement over the 0560, it's whether the 0562CF is a big improvement over the XM-18 . . . particularly for those of us who aren't Mil/LEO/EMT. On paper and based on initial impressions we're receiving from folks who have received their 0562CFs, the answer to that question may already be a foregone conclusion. But I, for one, will keep my money in my pocket until some OBJECTIVE comparative reviews between the 0562CF and the XM-18 start coming in. (Hat's off in advance to the first person who performs that analysis on behalf of BF members.)
No its not
You just missed it, it doesn't take long for these things to sell out.
