The Original 0777

Due to the nature of events surrounding our 0777, we are currently discussing what and when we show future products. It seems we need to be ready to market prior to show & tell with new items.

This looks like the best solution to keep unfortunate situations like the 0777/PX debacle from happening again. It's never a good thing to get beat to market with your own product.

Sorry to say, our "First Look" threads have unofficially been discontinued.

NOOOOOOOOOOO! I fully understand, but dang it, I love checking in on the progress/development threads... All this because of one smallish Tony :grumpy:

Due to the nature of...

Thomas,
Just out of curiosity, there must be more to this than just cloning a product. I'm not a knife maker but how could MT possibly produced an exact identical knife in terms of blade shape, size and hardwares? They must have hacked or leaked your CAD files or stole a blueprint of some sort or stole a prototype and did a tear down. Do you provide the tear down specs of upcoming knives in your "First Look" threads? If a proprietary software or data has been compromised, computer theft is a serious crime..
Best of luck.

^^
Thomas,
His is overpriced and everybody knows it's a copy. At least you showed the 777 off and won overall knife of the year. The people that are going to buy your knives could care less about a copy but want to see what you have now and what's in the pipeline down the road.

MT must really love the 777 they are charging 3-4 times the price for their less desirable version.

You guys don't be afraid to show it off. Even if a knife is a year out. People still get excited. Even the ones that complain and says your too slow still end up buying one because it's that good.

Custom knife makers take the risk of being copied everytime they showcase a new design or do a WIP thread. That's ok. If they get copied people know it and the copy cat gets flagged.

Just my opinion but look at how well the 777 and 560-561 threads are doing. They are still going strong. So keep going strong my friend and don't stop showing off what you got ;)

This whole thing is just a big, sad, ugly mess started by a dishonorable and lesser man. I'll miss the progress threads dearly, but I understand your reasoning. I'm sorry that it has to come to this, Thomas.

Thomas, I'm a small fish here but I support that 100%. Yeah it sucks for the Kershaw fans but they/we understand and we've got your back.

Alpha I think it's a bigger deal to a manufacturer, custom guys get their orders from people looking for custom knives that they make. If one manufacturer beats the other to market, it's a bigger deal. Plus, look at microholics.com. My first impression is that the "microholics" in general don't give two sh*ts that it's a stolen design, they want it. I'm honestly shocked that the 561 hasn't been tanked yet at this point.

Personally Thomas, this thing has really uncovered for me at least the less the desirable business practices of MT and I wish someone would go after him.

I've recently had it thrown in my face that somehow Tony ended up with a proto. Don't know. Obviously there was little respect with regards to Mr. Igarashi, and Kai USA, but it is what it is.

There will be future designs that we hope are even stronger than the 0777.
