The other Cade

Ad Astra: Im the generalist small town type. I can do most anything but I don't have the facilities for refinishing beyond a blue tank or a can of DuraCoat :p
Is the S&W out of time due to wear or manufacturing error?
How badly is is out of time? Is it bad enough that it is spitting?

Thanks. S&W Mod. 65, no. 5 & 6 will shave/spit if cocked slowly.

Got it used from a LEO who did a lot of fast DA shooting. Smooth, but worn a little. Just read an excellent book on fixing common GS probs. Think its a worn hand or need to bend/flatten... dang, that other lil' part.

Don't have a good 'smith in this town. :grumpy:

Getting better at fixing stuff myself. :D

Thanks & good luck.

Ad Astra

BTW, I know a great guy named Castro- no relation at'all to the hated dictator. There are a lot of common names. :D

Make sure that the teeth on the extractor are all square, IME a great deal of hard fast DA can cause wear here as well.
I would also go ahead and respring the gun If it has many miles on it.

Thanks.

One thing this book said made a lot of sense- to take a digital photo of the mechanism before first-time disassembly.

Thinking about my Marlin Camp Carbine & Ruger .22 auto, I thought that was pretty good advice...

Welcome, Sam:)

It seems like you're on the up and up. I apologize if my first post seemed a little abrasive. I, personally, have just been burned too many times welcoming Bura Fan back again and again not knowing it was him. Not your fault in the least. South Cental Kentucky you say? I went to school down around there at WKU. It was during my time in Bowling Green that i found the cantina. Once again, welcome.

Definately not BF...Welcome Sam.

Oh...just for the record on munks post...neither Semper Fi nor I are gunshy and we *are* mean.

I figure honesty should count for some karma in the long run.

My message stands for John Cade.

Welcome from me too, Sam. Got a nephew in Kentucky and
if you're anything like him you will be a fine addition to
the Cantina.

I own 2 HI blades, both purchased 2nd hand via ebay.

Sam so tell us, which two HI khukuris do you have? Any interest in other knives besides khuks?
How about Bowies? ;)

And what do you favor in long guns?
The .30-30, .45-70, '06? Marlin or Winchester? :p ;) :D

Short guns, Colt or Smith, or Ruger, or Other? Wheel gun or Jamomatic? :p ;) :D

Shot guns?

Yvsa: I have a military model and I had a mini-kurk I believe to be a biltong.
Unfortunatly the smaller knife was lost in a house fire about a year and a half ago. (stolen I believe by the clean-up crew along with a Becker #9, a benchmade striker, Axis lock 710 and Aries and several other pocketknives.)
I REALLY REALLY liked the biltong, I carried it as my offside CCW for nearly a year prior to the fire.

Long Gun wise Im an AK man. Most are accurate enough for general plinking, and my VeprIIk in 7.62 is a MOA rifle with handloads.

A couple rifles.
Norinco/B-west AKS sidefolder,Vepr Wearing a KOBRA sight and a Stg.58.
Don't ever try to run through a doorway with a FAL held at Port arms BTW.
Very painfull.
I love misurps too, 'specially Finn-Mosins.

Some knives and couple pistols. Just a small cross-section

I made the one at the top, 5160 w/ paracord handle (its just a thrower)and the hunter to the left of the CZ-52.
The hunter is Unknown carbon steel, brass-gaurd. handle is half epoxy soaked leather washers half deerbone with a pretty good copy of a scythian wolfshead design dremel engraved into it
The pommel is threaded on, and recycled from some crappy yardsale knife.
Yes, I know the Cold Steel LTC in the Pic is NOT the real thing :D
I blame everything on Wayne Goddard and his $50 knife shop books.

I carry bottom feeders for CCW. Im a total convert to the XD line.

I agree, good taste shown here. Welcome Sam.

Also Ad Astra, I agree with sam, might be worth sprning for a new spring set whether it really "needs" it or not. Should cost about 15 bucks for the 2 spring kit from WOlff Springs, at a quick glanc(looked at model for mine, which is a 64, price should be same on your 65).

Welcome Sam. I'm not the least "gunshy", and always prefer to take a man's word as his bond. Coming from a long career in law enforcement, a man is innocent until proven guilty, as far as I'm concerned (but penis bitin' dogs will be shot) :D :D :D

Welcome, Sam.

I am from West Kentucky. Not too far from Steely Gunz. With you here we may have the makin's of another Khuk Convention! At the very least we could get together and oogle each other's knives and guns. :D

Welcome Sam.

Congratulations on making it through the gauntlet ....

Welcome Sam. You have a bunch of good looking guns and knives so there should be some interesting conversations.

generally, they are folk who have nothing better to do than live a strife filled life that exists only on the flickering screen of an idiot box...generally, they start out nice but very soon start ratcheting up the contentious posts, often absenting themselves from them after they have kicked open the fireant bed....I think they enjoy watching the ugliness they can bring out in folk, and that it makes them feel somehow superior to expose the weaknesses of their fellow man....ALL new posters are possible trolls, not just someone who tosses out a familiar name...keep in mind they feed on ugliness, suspicion, and hate...please do not feed the trolls....and welcome to you, Sam....
