The Otley Run - Giveaway (The Run is now done)

don't judge a book by its cover -nor a spotted dick by the fact that its got "dick" in its name.
Ok and "spotted" which immediately makes me think of health problems.
(actually its yummo steamed pudding with sultanas i think).
"There was only the three of us on the freezing moor that night....I had given my word to name the pudding after the first person I saw...there was Spotted Dick...
and Pox Scarred Warty Faced Freddy. What was i s'posed to do?" Maybe they should change the name to suit the PC age in which we live. How about "Complexionally Challenged Richard"?

I'd like to live in Otley because you only live once, so you ought to do it where it seems to take the longest. ;)

actually, to me, a dish called 'pox scarred warty faced freddy' sounds less horrifying.
truly we are two nations divided by a common language.

i would love to live in otley because someone has to bridge the divide in our common language.
/not an entry, ive had my three.

Post #2. Not terribly witty or funny but "I'd like to live in Otley" because I'll bet there are some nice folks in the surrounding country side that are pretty down to earth and I imagine quite hospitable as long as you mind your manners yourself.

I'm just posting here to let all you aspiring Otleyites know that I haven't forgotten about this! I just wanted to leave a few weeks for some quality slipjoints to accumulate on the shop shelves and display cases of Otley before going on my run. I'm probably going to go out next Tuesday, so fingers crossed and hope I find something of interest :)

Careful not to get waddled upon. ;)

Third and final entry. I would like to go to Otley so I can increase my odds of winning a knife. Thanks Jack Black.

...

no sweat. when you are considering knife patterns that have existed for 100+ years, whats a week or two? lol

i would love to live in otley because waiting for quality slipjoints accumulating on the shelves of thrift stores would be a non-issue. lol
/not an entry, i just like the contest.

I'd love to live in Otley, because I'm sure if it was good enough for John Wesley to comment on it's good enough for me. (Factoid shamelessly garnered from Wiki so I hope it's true.) It would be interesting to attend services at the Methodist Church there and see how it compares to services at my local church.

Do you have the Boys Brigade there Wade?

All being well, I'll be off to Otley tomorrow gentlemen :)

Not an entry, but thanks for providing such a great story and entertaining give away!

I'd love to live in Otley, as I love meeting new people, and it sounds like Otley has a great variety of interesting folks!

Have a great time searching through the shops! That would be a dream day for me.:D

Thanks a lot Daniel, I'm hoping I find something nice for the great folks who contribute to this forum :)

No, the church here is a Free Methodist but no organized youth groups. There is a after school program where the kids can hang out and play games or work on their homework. The Free Methodist Church in Tonasket, WA (the next town south) has an AWANA program though.

So there's another reason I'd like to live in Otley: to find out what the Boy's Brigade is.

I'd love to live in Otley because I loved England when I had to work at the Newport Wafer Fab in Wales and loved drivin' about the countryside while I was there.

Thanks for the chance to win.

Keep 'em coming! I'm off to Otley today, but it ain't over 'til the fat sheep sings (I'll be using a RAMdom number generator to pick the winner and runner-up)! Good luck to ewe all and thanks for all the great contributions :)
