The Perfect Swiss Army Knife?

I prefer the Tourist (basically an 84mm Spartan) with optional mini eyeglass screwdriver.

It would have to be my old red pioneer. Over the last twenty-five years its been carried more than any other knife I have, sak or other. I just love it.

I just bought my third Super Tinker last week. The scissor screw finally wore out on my old one. I noticed the screw on the new scissors has been replaced with a rivet - perhaps to correct the problem of the screw becoming loose. Personally, I couldn't live without the scissors. Sometimes a blade just isn't delicate enough. I use the scissors to trim moleskin and for a million other tasks.

IIRC, my first Super Tinker didn't have the hook, which I haven't found much use for. Thanks to Garageboy, I'll have to try the boot lace thing.

I do like the Victorinox woodsaw, but for backpacking, I carry one of these instead - trust me, it's the best backpacking saw in the world! :)

May be heresy to bring a Wenger Swiss to the party, but I like my 84mm model with the usual SAK features, plus corkscrew, saw, reamer, small blade, and LOCKING main blade, partially serrated. No need for scissors, as I EDC a Rambler (think Classic with Phillips/bottle opener) on my keychain. I have a bunch of SAKS, but the Wenger is the one I carry on non-office days - for those it's one of the Alox models.

With the Spartan Lite, they finally managed the perfect one for me. Some of us like to have the Phillips for fixing the stove while we corkscrew some wine to think about it. I regularly will take a bottle or two into the field because reds are still a decent beverage at the ambient temp. Maybe the expansion of screw top bottles will liberate my SAK choices down the road, but not yet.

I forever hated having to go super thick or super long to get both features, now I really don't. Even though the Spartan Lite is one layer thicker than the Spartan, it is still an easy carry. I have even found I like the translucent ruby scales better than the old flat red ones.

I've carried the Tinker for years and think it's great. However, since I got a Farmer, it's become my favorite. Also like my Trekker.

For me, the Tinker has the best combination of being very light and compact but still having tools that I use often. Recently, I got a small Tinker, which has the same tools but is 3 1/4" long closed.

I also have an older Huntsman, but it's too big to deep pocket carry IMHO.

I'd like a Farmer one of these days.

IMO, the best Swiss Army Knife is the "Mauser" model Victorinox made(not sure if they're still made) with the green handles. Two bigger blades; one clip and one spearpoint, a bigger wickedly sharp saw/with can opener and bottle opener built in, and a corkscrew.

A Victorinox Super Tinker with G-10 scales would be EXCELLENT.

Another vote for the old Mauser SAK ... fits the hand like a glove with all the features your likely to need and none that you won't ... :D

I like the hunter and the huntsman but take off the stupid corkscrew and put a phillips screwdriver there
