Ok, here begins the journey. Apologies in advance that I'm not as good a storyteller as Bookie or Bawanna, but there will be lots of pictures along the way.

Recently, our good friend cul4u01 posted that his Yuvrav Western and Mini Micro Bowie were both in need of some new pants. I recently got into kydex forming, so, ego boosted from Bawanna's praise of my MMB sheath, I offered my help.

We exchanged emails back and forth, discussing different styles of belt attachment and such, and I believe I have a good idea of how I'm gonna do both of these. Of course, the beauty of thermoplastic is that if it doesn't work the way I thought after forming, you just reheat and it goes back to flat, like you never molded it. I don't wanna spoil the surprise, but I will say that the Bowie sheath will be very similar to mine, and I will probably use a foldover design for the Western. Cul, feel free to elaborate on anything if you wish, or not. Remember, there are no secrets, only surprises :D

Anyways, back to the emails. In our discussions, he had asked if I have ever seen a Padam Suga or a Trisul. I replied that I had only seen them in pictures, which I now realize were posted by cul on the first thread I started when I joined, called "Hooked on HI." He told me he would send them along with the Bowie and Western, so that I might take a little closer look. A very kind and slightly brave thing to do, I was beyond excited. He told me, "take all the pictures you'd like," and well, I like a lot of pictures!

So here we go. I'll add notes where I feel it's useful, but they are largely self-explainitory. That is to say, pictures of awesome knives. I took a bunch with both of our MMB's together. Mine is the one with the longer handle, and more red appearence to the scales.

I love the handle on his Trisul, as well as all of the rest of it, but particularly the handle. The wood is basically black on one side and red on the other. It's phenomenal. A picture from each side looks like two completely different knives! Tried to get a side view as well. No shadow-play or camera tricks here neither, just one cool knife

Next up, the Suga. This blade is simply amazing. It fits perfectly in my hand, the balance is great, blade size and shape, great, and the looks are killer. Not to mention, if you look up "distal taper" on wiki, you should undoubtedly find this spine picture. Not sure when he'll get this one back..might take him up on the offer to "enjoy them"

Looks good with the Bowies too!

And finally, more Bowies :) These are the original sheaths for both, so you can see the minor differences. Mine is on top.

Edit: PS, looks like either there's no image limit per post, or its over 16 :thumbup:

Nice pics! No rush like I said, as long as they show up on my front porch one day, I won't worry, they're in good hands, I'm sure.

Besides, I got your address...:p

What's the one between the Suga and the IBBB? A bunch went up for sale awhile ago, I wish I had got one.

Between the IBBB and Suga would be the beautiful stag handled Yuvrav Western. It feels absolutely unreal in hand.

Awaiting an order of more sheath making materials, then I think I'll start with the Western.

Actually, that's the only one I've seen. But then, I only found HI about 2 1/2 years ago. I got it within the last year, and it's the only one of its kind, as far as I know.

I was wrong, I did a search and found several Yuvraj Western Style Knives that were on DOTD fairly recently, looks from the beginning of the year (2015)

I got one since that one, my handle is a little different. Like an antler tip, comes to a point at the end. Blade very similar. Real handy. I like your straight handle better, good looking knife.

Good point, that's the only ones I've seen with a non pointy antler hilt. I coulda sworn the pointy hilt ones were in a bunch of DOTD's a few months ago.

Oh, you mean the fish knives? I'll post up a pic when I get home.

Yes it seems there were a few and all with pointy handles, I think Ndog got one as I recall too.

Not a fish knife, it's Yuvraj Western Knife.

Now I have a hankering for another Trisul. Had a good one and let it slip away.

I have three smaller Yuvraj knives with straight blades - a "Western Style" knife with an antler handle similar to culs', another one with an antler handle that curves down to a point and has a secondary point on it, and another knife that has a different blade style and a horn handle that comes to a point. I'll try to take and post a picture later today.

Here is the one I got. I like it a lot. The bend in the handle pretty near follow the radius of my belt line.

Pondering a horizontal sheath for it. Hard to see but the handle bends considerably to the left. Photobucket is playing games with me today so I couldn't find a better picture.

Yeah! Love those little buggers. Has anybody tried doing hard work with them? It looks like a really useful blade shape but I'm not sure about those hilts

Mr. B., yours seem to have more of a belly than mine. Blade shape looks more like a trisul type of belly.

Hey, I'm kind of sensitive to that belly talk ya know?

I agree, mine does seem to have a bit more.

I love the knife, this is one that to me would benefit by shortening. Really don't need that much blade.

Your handle, and a 3 1/2 to 4" blade and that would be a heck of a knife. I love it as is mind ya, love it very much but this is one case where shorter would be gooder.

I now recall this is the one that I dropped redoing the wall, missed my foot and messed up the tip. I've since returned it to it's perfect state, turned out really well if I do say so my own self.

I'm send my address to singlegrind in case he doesn't want to send yours back to the correct address, just in case ya know?

Hey Bawanna, why don't you just send me your Western, I'll make a sheath for it just like cul's, then I'll put em both in boxes, mix em up, and send one to each of you! Kinda like HI roulette, but you win no matter what :D

That's a fine idea. Maybe add a 3rd box with nothing to increase options.

I could get my own, could get his, or could get both or I guess I could get nothing.

Seems fair.

You doing horizontal or vertical for Mr. Cul?

Sad part is I'm way way closer and I'll be the first to get it.

Bad idea Single, BAD, BAD, BAD!! Don't do it, don't be thinking bout doing it. Erase your mind and delete your history.

3 boxes seems fair to me. As long as I get to keep the third ;)

Horizontal was requested for the Western, vertical for the Bowie. Still toying with belt-attachment ideas, right now I'm leaning towards IWB loops, if I can find some I like.

My usual plan is to make something "for myself," or rather good enough for me, and then it will be good enough for others. I'm quite picky, you know? Might take a try or 2, but I'll try to take pics of mistakes and mis-molds too, so you guys can get a better idea of the process. It ain't always smooth sailing, but that's what makes it fun, right?
