The PM2 is perfect

I'm sure nothing I'm gonna say here is news, but nonetheless I still want to say it.

I'm not a huge knife collector by any means.
I have a modest collection that all-together is only around $1000 worth of stuff.

I'm not necessarily a knife abuser (unless its my Adamas) but I use all of them for cutting anything. No safe queens.

And the only knife I own that has NEVER gave me any issues at all, is my Para 2.
Everything else has given me some sort of hassle, no matter how small.

Whether it be:
Tightening out bladeplay
Hard to sharpen
Becoming off center
Actions getting stiff/gritty
Etc etc

Ive had many "perfect" knives as my time being a Knut, but this puppy has been perfect since I bought it.
I've never had to adjust my PM2, never had any play, even after really hard work, and I find that the CPM S30V can be simple to sharpen.

Anyone else feel this way?
Obviously most of you do, seeing how often they're reccommended.
And for good reason.

Nah, nah, nah the Para 2 isn't perfect . . .
but of all the knives I have that I EDC and use the heck out of it is the best of them.
: )
(can't get the faces to work on my pad)
AND the very next knife I am going to buy WILL BE another Para 2
But nah, it's not perfect.
(I sure do want one more though)

naw, could squeeze a bit more blade in that handle. then it would be perfect.;)

I might be in the minority, but I ve never thought that the blade to handle ratio mattered much. My favorite blade lengths are 3.4 to 4.0 inches. My favorite handle lengths for comfortable use are 4.5 to5.0 inches. A 4 inch handle is borderline too short for me. Of course I carry IWB and don t wear "skinny" jeans.
Although the PM2 is one of my two favorite edc s, I do wish the tip was a little stronger. But Ive never broken a tip on one. Maybe it s because I try to be careful with the tip.
I do feel that the ergonomics of the PM2 are about the best of any knife I own, and those include several 400 dollar favorites among the folks on this forum.

Please don't edit it... I liked it. You said that I was "wordy" so I felt a one-word post was effective. My vain attempt at humor..
I know you're a white-hat...

I've gone through hundreds of folders over the years, expensive customs, fancy production models, inexpensive models, and everything in between, and the PM2 always seems to be in my pocket. It is my favorite knife to use, and to play with (I love the comp lock). It has gone with me on multi-week excursions in the woods, and it is the folder I most trust.

I think that I have "owned" perhaps fifty over the years (collection), and have given them as gifts, but have never carried one. I have early experience with Benchmade, then Spyderco Caly 3 for an office knife. Then CRK got my attention, and I've never looked back... First was a Zaan, then Model 21 large Sebbies since then...the last six yrs or so.
Spyderco has gotten 95% of my knife purchases over the yrs...happily.

Me too. I haven't bought any folders besides Spyderco for the last few years now...I was gifted some CRKs from my wife over the years too, so I never bought any of those!

But honestly my biggest gripe about carrying it is the narrow fragile tip. I am wary of prying the opening tab on a coke can with the PM2. Generally I don't like super fragile tips. There are ways to make good stabbing tips without making them too thin.

See, now for the way I work I actually NEED that needle tip on there. Part of the reason I like the Para over the Manix FOR SURE and I hate to say it, over my beloved Ritter Grip (though that is a tough / slim diff right there because of the other great things about the RG) not having the needle tip puts the 940 down a peg for me in use.

So yah, I got to have that tip.

To tell you how important it is to me I was eyeing the new Manix M4 and thinking : If I just clipped the spine near the tip and made it more like the Para then maybe I could go for the Manix.
Buuuuuuut I like the nested liners and the handle shape better on the Para to so . . .

Good man. That's why its great today we have so many knives we can choose from. You can get a grind idealized for your task in mind. Or just get a traditional and carry like 11 different blade types on one knife.

What do you find yourself using the needle tip of the pm2 for?

Yah, and you snagged that M4 with the natural scales right before my very eyes . . .
I'm pretty pissed about that . . . @&)$)%$)@ !
not at you . . . dog gone the luck.
If you ever get tired of looking at it (using it) I know somebody who would give it a good home for like ever.
:)

I work in a retail environment with a repair shop. Either a customer wants me to open a package so they can brail the product (some times I have to put it back and make it look ~ like it has never been opened)
or
I need to open some parts packaging and then it may not work out and I have to put it all back factory looking.
That and other similar "surgery".
I agree it looks fragile but I never pry with a knife so no worries.
PS: I have had the Manix let me down for the same tasks rather than get in there and do a nice slit it would hang up, fold the packaging and tear it.
Not good.

PPS: I do a fair number of piercing cuts into cloth reinforced rubber during every day as well.

Mine has not been as trouble free as the OP, but it's still a great knife. I think I appreciate it more now than when I first got it.

I'm still looking for the perfect knife, however.
