The PM2 is perfect

I've ALWAYS really liked the look of the blue handles on the Para with M390 thats probably my favorite even above my all black DLC safe queen. (can't bring myself to use it; might scratch it).
Well I have carried it and used it but always with a puckered puckerer.

Ehhhh... good knife, not quite up to great. Handle is shaped poorly, too thin for a good grip, and the finger grooves are spaced almost the worst they could be. Nice blade, though. Could use a nice going over from an anatomist or a kinesiologist.

I like my PM2 a lot, but I rarely carry it. I would think it capable of anything I wanted to do with the knives I carry in place of it. Personally, I "melted" the scales to get a better feel in hand. If I were to carry it more often, I would probably modify the front part of the scale to mimic the Military.

Although I generally prefer thicker handles, I like the thinness of the PM2 for certain occasions. Unfortunately, after purchasing a BM Stryker II (M4), I find that the 908 fits my wants for a PM2 style of knife a little better.

I would call the Para2 ideal for my general EDC needs. I have so many of them now they tend to stop me carrying other folders for very long.

Had the M4/CF version in pocket for the last 6 weeks or so to break it in. The honeymoon thing, get to know it, put some signs of use on it, some touching up on the edge, it's smooth and centered and the scales have just the right grippiness, still got a point on it too. Very happy with it I am.
Still have M390, XHP, 52100 and Cru-wear in the drawer awaiting their first outing. Bring on the Maxamet.

Sal and Eric spoil us, they really do.

The two Para 2s I've had have been fantastic knives as well. There is nothing that I prefer over it in its price range. The only issue I have is my own rational of carry. I have a few other knives in the 3.5" range that I prefer (Lg Inkosi & 3.5" XM-18). As far as other knives in the price range I have knives that I've had longer that already have dings and srcratches that get the pocket time (Native 5 LW, Endura).

I find that I generally like folders with blades under 3.5" (3.0-3.25" is about right for me) which is where the PM2 hits. Hence, every time I have handled it with the possibility of buying, I sat it back down. I knew that I wouldn't carry it beyond a day or two.

I fell in love with Spyderco knives many years ago. My first "premium" steel knife was a Native with s30v and I loved the quality and it took everything I threw at it. I never caught on to the hype of the PM2, I thought it would be too big for me, I thought it looked too tacticool for me, until I finally owned one.

Ever since I carried my first PM2 I fell in love with this model. What had I been missing all these years? The PM2 is now my go to knife and everything else in the collection finds it hard to take any pocket time away from the PM2. For my collection and for my daily use the PM2 has renewed my interest in collecting again and I enjoy using it every day. I have been on a quest recently to backfill some of the models I missed out on and I am always on the hunt for the perfect EDC.

YMMV. Everyone has their own favorite brands / models that are best for them and they are not wrong and I respect the other opinions, (I have spent a lot of money listening to those opinions.) Best for them is not always going to be best for me. There is some reason this model speaks to me and we connect. It has become my current version of the perfect EDC knife.

The quest for perfection never ends (that is how my collection grows) trying to find a knife I will like better than the PM2 for my EDC style of carry and use. I have found other knives that I like even outside of the Spyderco family, ZT, Benchmade etc, but none have been able to replace the PM2.

TLDNR: I love the PM2.....Other knives/brands can be awesome but can't compare for me so far.....

Awesome picture!!

I was not a fan of the PM2, felt the blade to handle ratio was off. It was kinda thick and the tip was to thin. Also my s30v didnt keep an edge well compared to other knives of the same steel. I carried it for a few years and ended up selling it. Open and closing action was fun, main reason I kept it for so long. but glad other liked it. always nice when you find the one that's your sweet spot. Im a fan of dragonflys and enduras

Sometimes a PM2 fits the bill and sometimes it doesn't, but for what it is, it's about as good as a reasonable person could expect.

I wouldn't go as far as saying the PM2 is perfect (for me), but it's better than average. Ergonomics and opening/closing action are very good. Just feels a little clunky given the blade shape and style. I much prefer the more compact package of the Native G10, or for similar size the Gayle Bradley 2.

I never got the hype over them, decent knife but there are a ton of other spydies I'd prefer to carry.
I finally picked one up and carried it for a few weeks and then switched back to carrying an endura.

Took a long time for me to warm up to it but now it's one of my favorites. I always reached for the Manix2 over the PM2, but when I finally found the right clip for me it changed everything. The M4 CF won me over, and now I carry a blacked out S30v all the time. The first PM2 I ever bought has lived next to the mail pile in my kitchen for years and has seen every sharpening system i have owned as well as a lot of house-guest abuse... and everything about it is better than ever.

The PM2 is not perfect, if only for one very important detail: the compression lock is one of the worst locks when it comes to left-handed operation. As a left-hander I cannot unlock it with any ease or smoothness, and that's a big issue when I am operating my knife while having my other hand occupied.

It may be a well-designed knife that stands out as such for a majority of people, but it is by no means perfect. If any knife deserves that moniker, it's the Native 5; in my opinion there is not a single thing wrong with it.
