The PM2 is perfect

I have several different flavors of PM2. I've recommended the knife to others many times but tend to reach for other knives to carry...not sure why, but the PM2 just doesn't personally excite me. There's something about the squared scale edges, narrow tip and hollow feel that doesn't bring pleasure to use like some other knives do.

If I need a larger Spyderco, I'll grab my sprint run Manix with skeletonized liners or GB1 before I grab a PM2. When I want a smaller/lighter knife, I'll go with my DF2, Lil Para Delica or Native.

Most of the time I have a CRK in my pocket...

Also, I've found that vigorous use of a Sawzall will solve most blade to handle ratio problems ;).

For me, changing the scales transformed the PM2... made the difference it took to get it in my pocket.

I absolutely love my blurple. Carry it more often than not when not at work. Holds an edge for a very, very long time.

Having collected folding knives for years, it wasn’t until a couple of months ago that I finally bought a Spyderco: the PM2. My reasoning was that it one of the ubiquitous US production folders of recent years.

I have always found Spyderco to be particularly hideous aesthetically, but have always been interested in their appeal to many others. I felt for a long time that I should at least try one, and the PM2 was the best suited, for me, of their iconic models. Also, I was interested in the compression lock.

Well, it’s really an excellent knife, and I’m glad I spent the money. They may have gone down in price elsewhere, but not in the UK. Nevertheless, it is a superb slicing blade and a pleasure to use. I still think it’s ugly, but now appreciate its sex appeal upon better acquaintance.

Now I find myself looking at other Spydercos. Must. Resist.

I compared my pm2 to Large 21 (supposedly has good blade to handle ratio) and found the pm2 not to be far off in terms of function.

Handle is pretty much same size.

There's less straight portion in pm2 but these are two different beasts.
Just an observation for whom it may concern

Spyderco is the first knife company to think outside the box. Sal decided to design to change the philosophy of knife design. His first knife at the time was the Worker, and he decided to put function before form. Most of knives the that existed then followed the opposite opposite philosophy and put form before function. Spyderco turned the knife world upside down and it has never been the same since.
