In general:

I hate coated fixed blades (a lame excuse for some makers to charge extra for "satin" not to mention it looks ugly and reduces the function)

I strongly dislike any weird blade shapes and grinds (tantos, recurves, multi grinds) all are gimmicks that designed purely to different from other makers (although they fail miserably because most makers are doing the same thing) not only do they look ugly they diminish the knife functionality to slightly sharpened pry bar

I strongly dislike customs aka CNC mid-techs that are priced over 600 because maker is cool and his knives are the shit.

Crkt auto lawks feature. Just as strong as a fixed blade my ass. And a pain to give to anyone who doesn't know knives.

Any sort of knock off or fantasy knife is bulls**t,
I hate any sort of fantasy knife. I wish I would see the day when Japanese or Chinese cheap junk knives are not sold in stores or even at the mall.

Most of the REALLY poo knives photos were taken from Legion 12s collection. Really! ;) If you don't believe me, ask marci, he knows (yes, Joe, he is Yoda with an ear job). Don't tell anyone in W&C about either fact! :p I personally believe the Jot Singh Spyderco wins. :thumbdn: The CRKT turd gets honorable mention. :p

Luigi ! The Swedis goat was burned again . Repeat the Swedish goat was burned.

Thank you, I did my best to avenge last years personal disgrace (unjust since we kept it through Christmas). :o I used a mora light my fire! :D Beware of a goat guard scorned MUHHAHAHA!

This! The blade looks perfect, but it's a pain to actuate the flipper with a plastic bag over your hand.

Ya, that just looks like a mistake.

Don't make fun of Duane, he excels in math and he's trying hard in metal shop. This is a first attempt.

The funny thing is, I'd probably buy that Duane if given the chance. :D

But may I present..........the uber tactical self defense phone case / bottle opener.

OP, I'm 59 years old been a member of BF since the beginning and have enjoye knives for as long as I remember. If we only discussed simple, useful knives this forum would have died years ago. A simple SAK or stockman in a useable steel would meet most any of our needs. A Old Hickory in the kitchen and a old school Marbles hatchet in the woods. There is something know for every need or imagined need, enjoy what's out there and let's all talk smack and enjoy the forums and the golden years of knivs

Looks like we have something in common too!

And yes, midtechs suck. Price aside.

As usual, I'm in general agreement with you. That said, how can you put Microtech on the list when they make such simple, beautiful, functional knives like this?

;)

You've heard the expression "twist the knife"? This one does it automatically when you drive it in the ground to anchor your tent.

Ultra-pretentious video with slow-motion broken scissor twirling.

(Note: I like both Doug and Bastien, but... cocaine is a hell of a drug.)

"Everyone knows how to be a butcher... but I... wanted to be... a surgeon."

I don't understand what this video is about or what the broken scissors are for, but I'm pretty sure this guy is neither a butcher or a surgeon.
Thanks for sharing this weirdness.

I hate it when Benchmade puts a spring-assist or auto feature on any AXIS lock. Let's take an ingenious design (IMO), one of the easiest one handed opening and closing locks out there (again IMO), and let's add a redundant feature that doesn't make it open any quicker but removes the ability to easily one-hand close.

I'm not judging you but I have to know what is the reasoning behind why?

This is another decent example. I have the 490 Amicus and I absolutely love it but hate that it's assisted. I'm tempted to take it apart and take the spring out to see how well it will function without.

Anything with a built in bottle opener that's integral to the whole thing, as I have never and will never drink. I'm talking about things like the Gerber dime, Kershaw select fire, and Kershaw shuffle.

Certain brands of soy milk are sold in glass bottles with those metal caps, so they still have some purpose.

Some pop drinks need to be opened with bottle openers too. Honestly it's probably easier to just carry a bic lighter to open these types of caps.

Have you guys seen those old Sog knives that looked like a racecar, a fishing reel, anf that monstrosity with a level in it that has a decorative hammer head on the spine?

.

For some reason I'm sometimes attracted to the odd, interesting, or weird. But there is a big difference between a one off piece meant to put a smile on someone's face (or just get a reaction), and something like that CRKT doo doo, that was actually meant to be produced in quantity for some reason.
