A sampling of my traditional puukko sheath work.

Beautiful work! I love puukko sheaths.

real beauty! when was it made?

Kustaa Lammi lived from 1901 to 2001. He made his first knife at age 10 and his last at age 95, so he was making knives from about 1911 up until 1996. When in that time period this one was made, I really don't know?

Just from its overall appearance, it wasn't actually made by Kustaa Lammi. This knife looks like many I have seen from Estonia and the surrounding area. The knife pictured has an old blade thats been polished and rehandled by somebody else very recently in Kiev.

I held the knife while watching the video. Judging from the marks on the birch bark handle, the blade, and the sheath, it is the exact same knife. An old blade that has been polished and rehandled would explain the very dull edge on this one. The seller did say that Kustaa made many more blades than completed knives and he thought this one may have been handled by someone else. Thanks for the video and info. I really have no knowledge about puukko makers, but I do like the knife.

You might want to check out Ahti knives. I believe he is who actually makes knives for Kellam. Reino Kamppila (Ahti brand) makes good knives; have three.
His are exactly same style and less expensive (in US). Kellam doesn't actually make knives, just a contractor.

Thanks for the tip Rich. I looked around and found I couldn't beat the price I got on the bay.
BTW, a little while back I wanted just one puukko. You kindly pointed me in the direction of a birch bark and elmax from Todor Hristov. It's really well done... but now I'm thinking I'll probably need something made by one of the "old masters", any suggestions? See what you started?;):D

Try a Google search for Finnish knives, look for Ragnar.
For Ahti knives just search "Ahti puukko".

I like the Ahti Metsa due to the "hook" pommel, to me makes it easier to
get out of sheath. Also really like the Ahti Juhla model - just a classic style.
