The Puukko

Thank you; any idea as to a closer date than 1865-1974?
Unless it's signed, sort of hard as style has been regional for 100+ years. I would "guess" maybe 1930-1950 - but only a guess. great knife you've got there. The dates in my pics are the dates of the smiths; not that specific knife.

Tongueriver-

Beautiful puukko. Jarvenpaa's Aito model. A classic design. I have one also.

Duncan, will try. Been a bit under the weather lately.

My latest Puukko from Arto Liukko arrived yesterday.
When I made my intention to purchase a Rautalapmi, these were my exact words for the design.
"I am very interested in a Rautalampi puukko.
My request is that it is inspired by you and/or your father.
A design you have not made that you would like to try for the first time.
Is that possible?"
Jari said, "We have seen a couple of rautalampi style puukkoa where the handle was made out of horse teeth. So inspired from that we decided to use cow horn."

A Jelio made Ebony and nickel silver Puukko with Vanadis 4 Extra blade.

He built this to my handle concept. Fit and finish is as good as it gets.

The sheath is a custom made byJosh of SwissHeritageCo SwissHeritageCo . It is a beautiful and solid piece of expert leather work.
Fit and finish on this is equal to that of Jelio to his knife.

Sweet! I had one very similar set up for commision but something ended up different than requested, hammered finish vs satin, so it wasn't meant to be. I keep thinking I need to revisit that one.

Jelio makes a great puukko. I'm still hoping a damascus one shows up again.

I know nothing about puukkos. But I’m learning and looking at the pictures here. I’m not big on moras because I don’t like the scandi grind. I see the puukko has more grind. And I like the ones with stacked handles and end caps. Pretty neat design though. Thanks to all that have shared here.
