The Puukko

I went to Marttiini store today in Santa’s village. Their newish carbon leuku was tempting but it is a bit light for leuku and I have asked santa for heftier leuku. 😏

Got me some leuku :D

But vuolupuukko is short and don't have "veriura".
No.......Veriura is just a fuller in the blade. Its aesthetic and according to Isaakki Jarvenpaa puukko makers only started using it because the Western market was important and Americans "needed" a fuller or they would not buy knives. Some have them some don't.
What makes you think a vuolopuukko is short? Its just a name applied to any knife you can carve wood with......
An old picture of a vintage Jarvenpaa puukko marked Erikoisvuolu. Its a standard size puukko, blade almost 4".....

Since it arrived on the 10th I have been putting the M95 Sissipuukko through a lot of work. At some point I may try to remove the Teflon coating, but no rush.

It is still unbelievably sharp after batonning kindling for the outdoor fireplace, cutting a lot of baling twine, opening feed bags, butchering a chicken, breaking down several cardboard boxes, and chopping a lot of apples. I have only stropped it a few times. I love this knife!
