You can't get them repaired unless the buyer bought them from the dealer here in the U.S.

This to me is kinda like a voided warranty- unless proof of purchase comes with the knife.

Please correct me if things have changed today. Because it was over a year ago I owned any shiro. So hopefully this thread wil turn into good news.

Since this has nothing to do with the actual knives but is "about your experiences (Good or Bad) with dealers, sellers, and individuals you've bought, sold, and traded with."....shouldn't this be in GBU?

I never mentioned a dealers name. I am pointing out that any Shiro purchased off the exchange that DID NOT come from a US dealer needs to be sent back to Russia. Therefore I sold all mine and with never purchase any.

.........until this is fixed here in the US. Hence the reason for my thread because I could be wrong and Shirogorov made provisions and hopefully has a shop that will honor all Shiros.

So its about Shigorov's business/waranty practices and not about the quality of their knives, correct?

....And not about their looks or pricing either?

Business and warranty practices? I thought this thread was about their unusual color choices. I mean grey..? Grey? So weird.

Does anyone have any actual experience with being denied warranty support because they didn't have the newer certificates of authenticity? I viewed it similar to the way that companies say they will void your warranty for disassembly, but in reality, as long as you didn't F-up the knife, they really don't care.

As to the visual appeal of a Shiro, it's simple clean and elegant imo. I have had 4 different Shiros over the years, my current was purchased from the correct authorized dealer, but I honestly don't foresee needing to use the warranty support. Their fit and finish is superb, and I agree that they are overpriced.... but I keep buying them anyway...

This is not true, for Spyderco. At least in my experience.

Completely false. You can get them repaired no matter where you bought it from. If you aren't the original owner, you will have to ship the knife to Russia on your own and they may charge you for their services.
They will always be happy to work on their knives, as recently discussed in their sub-forum on USN.

overpriced kizer......
Man.....not even comparable. A little research goes a long way.

Like P pwrdbycotn and Austin stated, Shiro takes their craftsmanship seriously as well as their warranty to back their work. If you're buying a knife made in Russia, it's part of the package to assume the responsibility that comes with it, i.e. sending it across seas for repair.

A simple phone call or email to their authorized dealer would have answered your question, instead of getting on the GBU trying to spread false information. colubrid colubrid

Not so false in my experience.. I was told by the US dealer that he would not even talk about my second hand shiro without the paperwork. You can find my thread about it here too.. Always seems to be someone who didn't actually try to get the work done that says it's no problem..

Keyword: Second-hand.

As I already said, unless you are the original owner and purchased through their one and only authorized dealer, you are the one responsible for shipping it to the factory.
If you are the original owner and purchased it through their one and only authorized dealer, you can send the knife to them and they will take care of sending it to Russia and getting it back to you after repairs are done.
It actually is quite simple and easy to understand, and I do have experience with it. Always seems to be the ones who can't read the warranty that try to get other people to bear their responsibilities.

which is which is all laughable because in my multiple contacts with recon-1 he never mentioned any of that, only that he would not look at it at all without that piece of paper. This is a situation shirogorov created by only having one US distributor.
