the reason I quit buying Shirogorov off the exchange

which is which is all laughable because in my multiple contacts with recon-1 he never mentioned any of that, only that he would not look at it at all without that piece of paper. This is a situation shirogorov created by only having one US distributor.
Ok, well let me use another maker as an example with the same scenario.
Let's say you bought a large Sebenza 21 here on the exchange. For whatever reason, you want it verified as authentic and maybe you want some work done to it. Are you going to ship that Sebenza to BladeHQ or KnivesShipFree? Of course not! They didn't sell you the Sebenza, so they're not going to ship it to Idaho for you, and they don't have the authority to authenicate it 100%.
Do you understand now why your logic is so failed?
It isn't difficult! Either buy Shirogorovs brand new from Recon1 or it is your responsibility to send it back to the factory for verification of authenticity or to have work done.
It's no different than any other maker/manufacturer.

Not looking to disagree or argue your point brother, but Blade HQ & GP Knives have both stepped up for me when I had issues with warranty claims.
They both sent me shipping labels to get the Knives to them and they then took care of everything else.

The thing I’d like to see with Shiro, is for someone with the Co. to state their warranty in black and white.

The only blades I’ll buy off the Exchange, expensive ones, are Benchmade. They don’t care if you’re the fifth owner or where you bought it from. They will fix it......period.

I’m not sure how much shipping is to Russia, but I’m sure it’s not cheap. You also might be responsible for the repair if they decide warranty doesn’t cover your issue.
Too many ifs or maybes when we’re talking Knives >$800 for me.

None of those places are listed as Authorized Service locations though either.. seems like Recon1 was although I can't find it in print right now.

Did you buy the knives that they helped with from from GP and BladeHQ?

Shiro's warranty is clearly stated in a sticky in their sub-forum on USN.

so it's clearly stated on a private forum?
No more private than Bladeforums.
It's also on Shiro's website, but it's in Russian, although I'm sure it can be translated. It's in plain English on USN. They have a sub-forum there, just like there are makers that have a sub-forum here.

Can't you surf Bladeforums without an account? I've never seen a search engine result from the USN that I remember..

I don't know. I know you can make an account for free and surf the forum all you want. If you're a paying member you can even PM Tom, Shiro's online rep, and he will answer any questions you may have about their knives.
As far as getting into the in's and out's of how forums work in conjunction with search engines, I dont know or care.

overpriced kizer......

^ Do you really expect to be taken seriously here, posting such an ignorant comment? o_O

Jules (Pulp Fiction): Shiro's & Kiser ain't in the same ballpark...they're not even in the same freaking league!" :D

FWIW: I'm not too big on watching YT video reviews, but I would gladly watch any YT reviews you may possibly be contemplating, comparing the Kiser you own, & the Shiro, you don't. v

Man.....not even comparable. A little research goes a long way.

Shiro takes their craftsmanship seriously as well as their warranty to back their work. If you're buying a knife made in Russia, it's part of the package to assume the responsibility that comes with it, i.e. sending it across seas for repair.

^ The Shiro 95T (which ironically I purchased here on the exchange from colubrid), was hands down, thee smoothest flipper, of the highest quality, I've had the pleasure owning.

^ That previous GBU thread, wasn't all that long ago. Hopefully, because of this feedback, Shiro and Recon-1, can come up with an alternate solution, which doesn't involve shipping their knives all the way back to Russia, simply because you don't have the warranty certificate.

My revised Shiro policy: don't purchase any second hand Shiro's, unless it comes with all of it's original contents (stamped certificate), when sold new.

It doesn't matter if you have the original contents or not, if it was bought on the secondary market, the new owner is responsible for getting it back to the factory if work needs to be done.
This is the same for CRK or Spyderco or whoever. If you buy it on the secondary market, you can't just pick a dealer out of thin air and expect them to take care of it for you.
If Joe Blow buys a PM2 from BladeHQ, then sells it in the exchange to me, I can't just call up KnifeCenter and expect them to ship said PM2 back to Colorado for me. In fact, I would look and feel like a jackass for doing so. I'd just get in touch with Spyderco and send it to them myself if work needed done.
It may be inconvenient that Shiro is in Russia, but that's not their fault.
It would be great if they could somehow make it so that Recon1 was a service center, but we can't expect them to cough up the expense that it would take to do that.

As long as you aren't one of the masses who have been banned there. It is a private forum, if it wasn't then there would be search results from it.. So hopefully, if you have a shiro with issues, you haven't been banned from the USN if you need any service info..

Well the good news is, they are also on IG. Plus, they have telephones and the internet in Russia, so you can call or email them. You don't HAVE to be on USN to speak to them.
And if someone were banned from USN and is now crying about not being able to get on there, maybe they should have thought about that before they did whatever it was that lead to the banning. Again, personal responsibility....

^ In retrospect, I guess I should've been more specific. In the future, the only Shiro's I'll consider purchasing, are those that were/are sold by their one and only US dealer: Recon-1...or not!

I haven't ever had the need to have any warranty work, for my Shiro. Regardless, there's no way in hell, that I would ever assume the risk of shipping one of their costly knives back to Russia. through Russian Custom's, & then back to me.

In the meantime, my one and only Shiro I'm sure will serve me just fine. :)
As far as the future is concerned: I just jumped on the colubrid, & Oilman bandwagon.:thumbsup: :D

I get that it's a big PITA to ship to Russia, and I get that some people won't buy because of that. It doesn't mean they won't work on them, though, because they will. If buying a new one from Recon1, it's a non-issue because they will take care of all the legwork. They're a great dealer, btw.

When I stop to think how time consuming it is, just for this one forum; I wonder who actually has all this extra valuable time needed to be on, USN, IG, Twitter, Facebook?

Not me! And I'm not joining any of these other social media site's, just so that I can be "in the know," regarding Shiro's warrantly policies!

If you don't mind, pbycotn, I'd like to throw one of your very own quotes your recently posted in another GBU thread, right back at you:
"Ain't nobody got time for that!!!" :D

Oh man! You got me there! Hell everyone I know chooses one form of social media or forum to participate in and that's it. Nobody has time to look at anything else, what with work, family, beer drinking, watching football and all those other things.
Wait....oh nevermind.

And that comment has to do with Shirogorov's warantee policy how exactly?

I kind of expect to hear and lean about fellow members' experience with other members and sellers here...not what members think about other uninvolved members personally.

It seems like we have a dedicated forum for that kinda stuff.

Somewhere on a Russian forum, there's a thread like this complaining about why they won't buy CRK's........
