It will take about 4 months from when I make the deposit so probably summer sometime. When might the Reate version be available? Asking for a friend of course![]()
Thanks for all your thoughts! I think you are rightI have a lot of knives in both steels and both of them are great (especially with the right HT) and Imma buy one of your Reate Sparrows either way.
My thoughts are that MagnaCut has a bigger brand and broader appeal. As you go into production knife territory I'm just speaking strategically and putting myself it your shoes - MC might make more sense. I think the actual properties and differences - slight though they are - are pretty well known in the knife community and completely irrelevant to anyone outside of the knife community. All things being equal my personal bias is always for Vanax (but I'm the last guy around that still has a thing for Nitrobe 77). I am originally from the PNW and spend a lot of time on the Puget Sound where the saltwater and rain have taken their toll on some of my fav's because I'm an idiot. And I personally buy knives with some of that rusted-knife trauma PTSD. Both MC and VNX are high performers and near idiot-proof - VNX is just slightly more idiot-proof in the ways that matter to me.
In conclusion, I want you to sell as many of these as possible, so that you make as much $$ as possible, so that you make as many blades as possible for me to buy. So I'd suggest MagnaCut because its my guess that will allow you to price slightly lower and sell a few more because it might be more familiar to those weird people who aren't paying bladeforums members.
Sweet Josh! I look forward to getting one!It will take about 4 months from when I make the deposit so probably summer sometime.
Gonna be real expensive so I wouldn't even bother just move along. LOL. More for me.Is the projected cost of the Reate’s finalized yet?

You need to apologize, right now. That’s what I like about you. You can poke and jab and then take it right back without getting you feelings hurt. On a serious note for all that don’t know me I don’t put myself first I just talk a lot of smack. Of course my wife says that I come across as rude to some people but if you’re gonna be around me you gotta have tough feelings as I don’t sugar coat anything. Like the saying says “If you’re gonna be dumb you gotta be tough”. I’m tough.
That's why we have ban hammers. No apologies necessary. You need to apologize, right now.
