The Road to Patina

Full flat and scary sharp! I am really impressed with this R Laconico knife
I had one of his once before,it was really ,really well made,but the style was something I just not could get used to,so I flipped it.When I saw this one,I was on it! The timing could not have been better with my recent coming out ,on the carbon steel patina fetish

Perhaps because it`s stainless steel!? :D:D

Wolfie, I don't think they're stainless. The blade has the typical "Hammer Forged" comment on it, but no mention of Rostfrei or Stainless. I ordered what was supposedly a carbon steel knife from SMKW. Plus the small blades have some small specs of patina on them.

We don't need to know about your midnight rendezvous at the Pimento Rest Park..You and that Craig guy from Idaho..:) ;)

Wait one gosh darn minute. There ain't no rest park in Pimento and the guy's name was Greg. He had purdy lips just like you Randy. :p

Vince - Nice Laconico. I was emailing with Ray after he posted your finished knife and i guess he had an absolute run of orders come in requesting to get on the list for one like yours. Great knife Vince and Ray!

Wolfgang, what's that first knife you posted?

This one?

Here are some brothers and sisters: :D

They are pretty rough and simple but sturdy made slippies by german Willi Kneissler. In Germany they are really affordable (~ 25.- Euro each :thumbup: )

Was mentioned here (post #34) already. ;)

Those are great looking knives. Simple single blade knives like Lagoiuls, Opinels, Navajas, Mercators, and friction folders, are probably the worlds most popular all time pattern knife. Every shepard, stable hand, soldier and sailor in the old, old days had one.

Rick,The micarta on that knife is not bead blasted,it is a smooth finish,not polished.But it has a grippy feel,unlike any knife I've had,it works very well.I have been messing around with it in the kitchen.It is real sharp,easy to touch up. I feel he makes a great knife,and for those who ordered one like this,they will like it ! Does a nice job on the leather,too
I have the patina going good on it,I'll post some pics over the weekend

Is that Newman Pugsly? was that him on that porch playing the banjo? I thought I could see a resemblance.

LMAO...I missed out on this interchange because some of us have work to do. But again, I got nothing.

How did this go from a patina thread to a thread about pickle park escapades ????? I thought I was in the W&C forum for a while....

I do like the pics with various stages of patina.. I've gotten to the point that a knife doesn't look finished if it doesn't have at least some patina.

Is there a place in the states where the Kniessler knives are available?

@wintermute
Stainless was my first thought :D but when you`re sure it`s carbonsteel maybe the blade is extremly polished so it`ll take a bit longer to take on a nice patina!? :confused:;)

@Chris Mapp
Thanks, mate! :thumbup:

@jackknife
Thanks! Yes, you`re right with your opinion! :D
