I'm considering picking up a Calf Roper. There are still a few in Tortoise Shell Acrylic sitting around on dealers' shelves that I occasionally check in on.

How do they compare in pocket bulkiness compared to a Beer Scout, for example? That's about as large a knife as I like carrying in the watch pocket.

They are not much different than a beer scout, SG. Modest 3 1/2" size and two springs!!

Is that a purple sage? That was one of my first GEC. I got a user ebony around the same time, so I put the purple sage into the safe and haven't really done a close inspection of it since. That jigging is awesome.

That is a purple sage calf Roper from 2011. Bring yours out of the safe. We would love to see it.

Quick honest review after some regular carry.
Amazing build quality on this knife. All 3 blades did not touch or rub when I got it, a piece of paper would slide between all the blades but a business card wouldn't. Gaps, liners, springs, bolsters, everything was just about perfect. The clip point sits awfully high and I'll drop the kick after a sharpening or three. The bone may have shrunk ever so slightly, as you can feel transitions at the bolsters and on one spot at the liner, but you really have to be looking for it.
True to what others have said, the sheepsfoot is by far the most used blade. The clip has been used for food and is developing a good patina. I haven't used the spey blade yet and keep a coat of ren wax on it to keep it clean if I ever need it.

Compared to a medium Case Texas Jack (which I've carried for years before I became a knife nut), at first I really didn't like the additional and never-used spey blade in the stockman. But the spey does solve a slight inconvenience I've experienced for years with the jacks - I always seem to find a coin stuck in the liners. The additional spey solves this problem and gives some added functionality.

Those covers have aged nicely, Will. I've often thought the rotten banana was too garish, but that one is tip top.

Thanks Jeff, it doesn't see too much action these days as I've become less of a fan of 2 blade Jacks. Prefer singles, Stockman or Penknife arrangement.

I missed getting one of these in Pumpkin Patch acrylic, really regret dithering for once it looked fab.
