Thanks Jeff, I got to pick fairly early when they came out. I liked that one for the deep canyons that areGreat stag, oldtymer, and interesting to me how different it is from mine of the same run. Yours is so dark, and mine so white.

What a fabulous knife!!! You got a winner with that one, great covers...I'm so glad I found this thread. The 66CR was the 2nd GEC I ever bought and it was the pattern that really opened my eyes to "smaller" knives and the utility of a stockman configuration. This knife essentially retired my modern one hander EDC and is what made me EDC slipjoints. I don't EDC the 66 right now (currently a 15), but it's one of my most prized patterns in my collection. Here is my 66.

Great story, and congratulations on the new addition. This knife was a wedding gift to me and my beautiful wife from the fine folks over at Great Eastern Cutlery. We stopped in on our honeymoon and she got to meet the wonderful Christine, as well as the man behind the operation Mr. Howard. They let us choose our knife from the displays they have in store and we truly got an amazing gift.

Fast foreward and guess what we find out? We are pregnant with a son and he already has his first knife! My wife carried the baby for 9 months and I’ve carried his knife, everyday, every appointment, every ultrasound and finally through the delivery I’ve had his knife with me.

She was a mom the second she found out she was pregnant and I had to wait to really be a dad, having his knife with me has given me the feeling that I was responsible for him too, even without him being here. I’ve kept the blade sharp, the joints oiled and the stag intact, hunting, fishing, everyday at work I’ve used his knife to give it some character and memories for him to cherish one day.

The blades are stained and the stag is smoother in places, the bolster show some wear now as well, but it’s ready when he is.
