Who would have thought back in 1988 that Chris's Ti handled folder would become a legend in the industry, and establish one of the most emulated lock mechanisms in today's folder market!

To commemorate the Sebenza’s 21st birthday, we are coming out with a new version of the Classic, known as the Sebenza 21.

The Sebenza 21 sports a more pronounced chamfer on the pivot edge of the handle, allowing the knife to be inserted more easily into a pocket or sheath. The blade shape remains the same as its predecessor. Production will be switching over from the Classic Sebenza to the Sebenza 21 as soon as our current inventory of handles is depleted. The good news is, there is no change in the pricing for the Sebenzas!

Here’s an image of the Sebenza 21, in plain style, and our four newest computer generated graphic models. From left to right, the CGG’s are “Straight Ahead”, “Retro”, “Freedom”, and “Acoustic”.

The other announcement to make is that the Regular Sebenza will largely be retired. We know that some customers will be disappointed with this decision; however we simply must make room in our product portfolio for new designs. We will continue to make the Annual LE Wood Inlay Sebenza using the Regular profile, and starting with the 2009 LE’s, we will increase the quantities from 60 each large and small to 75 of each size. We're giving customers a final chance to acquire a non-LE Regular Sebenza, and will be accepting orders for non-LE Regular Sebenzas until May 2.

Best regards,

Dave

Interesting. Nice touch, adds a little change. I'll look forward to the replacement of the regular.

Cool!

I'm all for changes. Will probably have to pick up one of those "Straight Ahead" patterns.

CRK is always coming up with something new, not necessarily wild-and-crazy, but beautiful. :)

Thanks for the Sebenza in all its incarnations!

I'm not that fond of the look of the new chamfering but I am sure I will grow to like it, and I am sort-of sad to see the Regular go. Despite my preference towards the Classic pattern it always seemed to me that the Regular was a great design especially in the large size. I'd always planned on picking up a large Regular but not anytime soon, so I guess I'll have to "make do" with large Classic instead in the future.

But on the other hand, the great news is that the Sebenza is old enough to legally drink!

Congratulations on the big 21.

I love my Classic wood inlay sebbie. It feels just right in my hand and therefore gets a lot of use.

PLEASE don't ever delete the classic. IMHO it's just right

Congrats to the Sebenza! Only one year younger than me but I do believe it carries it years better. HA HA! Can't wait to get one.

Hello,

Im sorry to say but im a bit dissapointed. First of all, sorry for my english :p

I recently bought a classic sebenza, but now I will have to 'store' it because I dont want to damage it, since it is going to go out of production. Also, there will be a new Sebenza version, only one available. The other side. Only one small version available would be great, but that if this new version is available forever, and not replaced by other like the current classic or regular.

IMO; leaving the Classic and Regular 4ever, and making some anniversary version would be great, like a limited run or something with gold plating or 'luxury' things.

Thanks,

Antonio

Yes big news indeed.

I'll infer (?) that the large regular wasn't selling as much as the classic. I wonder if that would make large regulars in BG-42 more desireable?

I like the chamfer idea, kind of like a one edge melt job.

The other announcement to make is that the Regular Sebenza will largely be retired. We know that some customers will be disappointed with this decision; however we simply must make room in our product portfolio for new designs.

I'm OK with this, eventhough I prefer the Regular over Classic. That said, I hope there IS a folder in the works, not simply more fixed blades. There's been talk for some time now about a folder, but Man, wouldn't it be nice to actually confirm this other than just "new designs"??

When I got notice of this early this week, I called and asked about the sales difference--they said they sell about the same.

The change will be good!

Wonder what markings will be on the handle on the lock side - instead of Classic MM ? (Classic XXI?)

Assume the chamfer will be on the small and large?

Hate to see the regular go, but looking forward to see what new is coming....
