The Sebenza is 21 years old!

Good and bad news from my standpoint. I love the regular design:( Hopefully the new folder will make me happy:D

The new folder will make a lot of people happy, and you will be seeing regular Sebenzas on the aftermarket for a long time! :)

I remember the debate over the regular when it replaced the original classic-style, and how happy people were when the Classic XX came along as an additional choice.

Change is good, new choices are good, they are all great knives.

... the "Straight Ahead" is gorgeous. It reminds me of Frank Lloyd Wright stained glass.

That's the one I liked best, along with the Retro. I hadn't though of Frank Lloyd Wright, but you're right, it looks a lot like his style.

It seems as if this change could be a problem for refurbing Classics after the 21s come on the market, if all the old side plates are used up. If a Classic needed a new side plate what do you do? Or, what does CR do? Assuming you want to retain the original look.

Also, what about replacing parts on a Regular Sebenza?

If he will be making limited edition regulars... he should have all the tooling for replacement parts for the regular....

I like the chamfer a lot, I'm not especially saddened at the loss of the regular, and the new CGGs are quite nice.

I'll just have to pick up a small "retro" graphic. The "straight ahead" looks very smart also.

i just don't think there's a "new folder" in the works.since seeing the new graphics, it could be few more years.

It looks as if almost everyone is trying to put a positive spin on the change to the Classic Sebenza., Maybe when
I handle a 21 I will appreciate the change, however at this point it seems like an unnecessary change.

I've not heard people demanding that a mod like this be made. When people do have mods done to their Classics,
I don't recall them going after the front of the handle to make their Sebenza easier to slide into their pocket.

I would like to know if the change was made for something other than, or in addition to, the reason stated.

If the change is just for the sake of change, then maybe people in the business of collecting will be happy.
As someone who has several Sebenzas just because I enjoy them, this change isn't getting me excited.

While I'm going negative, I don't care for any of the new graphics shown in the first part of this thread.

I've never cut my finger on the blade of a close Classic Sebenza. However, after reading here in this forum
a few people say that they have gotten cuts from a closed Classic, it would seem a more worth while change would
be to the back of the handle or the blade. But, I'm not asking for that change either.

Well, news of this change forced my hand. I had been putting off getting the small regular sebenza to go along with my small classic. Yesterday, I bit the bullet and added the second sebenza to my stable. I'm thinking the third one will be a 21 with Micarta inlays and bead blasted hardware.

Radical change has never been part of CRK as far as I can remember. Relative to the changes people are have done to their sebenzas, extra relief on the pocket side pivot end seems very minor.

Personally I would have rather seen a new wharneclff sebenza.

It might just be the picture, but I spy another change.....

The guard on the new 21 looks shorter than the classic is now. One of the reasons my reg's see more pocket time is because of the short guard. This short guard lets my thumb ride very close to the edge when used in a upside down draw cut.

Sounds like a little deal, but I think they combined the best of the two here. The handling of a reg with the sweet looks of the classic. Also, on the small Sebbie, classic cramps my thumb up when upside down, where as the small reg. feels perfect upside down....... and ALL other grips.

Am I crazy? :D. Maybe it just the picture angle?

Wonder what markings will be on the handle on the lock side - instead of Classic MM ? (Classic XXI?)

Assume the chamfer will be on the small and large?

Hate to see the regular go, but looking forward to see what new is coming....

I wonder as well. I hope the markings are gone. I found 'Classic MM' too busy looking.

Im glad i have a Lrg regular and another on the way...
Both made just last month.....
And these are my first sebbie's ever.... or any knife in the price range for that matter....
It was a good month for me...
I cant wait to see what is coming.....
Thank you CRK for helping me find the "right knife" after all these years.... atleast for a little while....;)
Matt

I like the change, looks nice and fun to just have something a little different. It does make me glad to have my small regular though, for the small size I really prefer the regular handle shape to the classic. I'll probably pick up one of the new designs in a large when they are available.

God !
I still got "Knife illustrated" with a Classic Sebenza mauled in a log !
Go figure !!!

Cheers
JM

Nemo -- way cool that you have that article. Unless I'm mistaken, the knife in the log is mine, P184. It was my first Sebenza. That was many years (and knives!) ago.

I can't wait to see the new folder. As one who prefers the regular design over the classic I am sad to see it go. On the sebenza 21, I hope CRK removes all the lettering on the handles, except for the CR logo. I always found the "Classic MM" lettering to be unnecessary.
