The Show Off Your AR and INFI Thread

Umm did I miss something? Whats wrong with Olympic Arms? I've seen lots of their products around and have never heard anything bad about them.
I hope I'm not casing any trouble just curious as to why you think you need a flame suit.

Over at one of the forums I used to frequent people had some rather unpleasent things to say about Oly. Apparently some number of years back their QC was not up to snuff and it was a gamble to buy their products. Of course people hang on to that and old habbits die hard in a maner of speaking. I guess fit and finish was an issue as well as reliability concerns. Like I said before mine has been flawless, I did the research before I purchased it and found it to be a better deal than the Bushmaster I was also looking at. Also I like the fact that it is manufactured in my home state!!

One of the things in particular I like about hanging around here is the feeling of acceptance. Feels a lot more like family and friends than some of the other forums.

I kind of like that tan PMAG. I was thinking of picking up at least a couple more, and was thinking about something besides black. You don't have a pic of a green one in the rifle, do you?

Sorry, I don't have a green PMAG... I haven't been able to find any new PMAG's anywhere close to me. I purchased 20 or so of the black and 15 of the tan form my local toy store about six months ago and they have not restocked....

Finding them online has been hard, but I have managed to find them a couple of places.

Not positive about one of them though. I put 10,000 of them in my cart and it actually calculated a total for me. That's $150,000 worth of mags. :p

I'm guessing the site and inventory aren't necessarily linked. :D

:D Yeah thats a lot of stock!!! :D $15 a pop sounds like a good price though. I can't believe the way mags are sky-rocketing in price.

I see. Thanks for the explanation. That is too bad about the comments others have made.
I was looking for a specific style when I bought mine. Bushmaster had what I was looking for and they came highly recommended. Which is why I bought the one I have. I even got a really good deal on it. I've been really happy with it and have put approx 1200 rds through it with hardly any problems. In fact I can only recall one failure that was not magazine related. I've got one GI surplus mag that is very hard to seat and needs to be replaced.

I'll grant you this one concession, but try to stay focused!

I had an Oly that I got shortly before the '94 ban (the silly "commando" style with 11.5 inch barrel with the 5.5 inch flash hider that was in vogue at the time). It would sometimes fire as many as two shots in a row before it jammed. I heard a lot of similar stories about Olympic ARs from that era.

I made sure my ex-wife got that one in the divorce.:D

But I also have an Olympic Ultramatch with a Williams set trigger that'll drive tacks all day. I guess it's like Forrest's mom said about boxes of chocolates.

Here is the product of my imagination. Keep in mind that this photo is entirely Photoshopped and that I ripped all the various images off the web.

Well picked up my first AR today plus a couple lowers, but no infi was around for the shot.

Congrats and nice looking rifle. I've been looking at those CTR stocks. I would be interested in what you think of it.

With three magnifiers, can you actually see what's coming in the future?

And why exactly would you epoxy your magazine to a piece of white plywood?
