The Silver Lining: A Stainless Traditional Showcase

Rescued this stainless blade off a broken knife and put it into a new handle. Don’t worry, the blade it replaced also went to good use.

Always fun to bring new life to good parts. I think the project still embodies the spirit of a “Navy Knife” as well… or at least that’s what I was going for ⚓

How I bought it.

Nice save!

IIRC it not considered stainless due to not enough chromium content. Its a corrosion resistant tool steel, but technically not stainless. I have a Canal Street Pinch with D2 that has patina. I bought it second hand, so I don't know how it happened. The knife had been rode hard and put away wet by its previous owner.

That said, I have no opinion about including D2 in this thread. I leave that to the originator and/or the collective 🤖
The Queen 69 1/2, Robeson Sure edge, and the Cripple Creek that I posted above are all D2. I always thought D2 was stainless. I guess it ain't.:)

And the Ka-Bar Barlow too. It’s stainless enough for government work 😆

Picked up this stainless Old Timer with desert iron wood handles today at Tractor Supply. Can’t seem to leave that place without buying something I don’t need. Also in the cart was cheese balls, an oversized tennis ball, and a rubber cow. That’s what happens when I go shopping with my little man. 😂

I don't know if the Double Eagle was "FREE!!!" With purchase of a Homelite gas chainsaw ... Or gas landscaping tool, such as a hedge trimmer, edger, weed whacker, leaf blower/vacuum, tiller, or ___.)

The heat treatment of the old USA made Uncle Henry's 440A blades has a great reputation.
