Tired. I want to stay home from work. I need a vacation.
How are you Gus?
Im ready to get the kids off to school and then take me a little nap as well.
So much for that plan.
Anyways. I did some playing around with my Yuma earlier this morning and decided to touch it up a little on my strop. 5 minutes or so on the strop and its back shaving hairs off my arm.
This is my first experience with O1 but im liking it!!! So far "for me" it seems to stay sharp longer than 1095 but still take an edge a little easier than 52100. Great stuff. Ill get some more stuff to cut and run through my own edge retention tests soon as well, but im really liking it so far.
Hey Todd, if you ever made a Yuma or Tradewater with a choil that might just be the PERFECT knife for meI know a lot of people dont care for choils on smaller knives but i guess im just weird LOL
When I was playing around with that design before I settled on what is now the Yuma, I made them with the finger choil you mentioned. It was o.k. but I didnt like how it took away from the lenth of the cutting edge. I'll see if I can find a pic of one. I dont have any, I sold all of them and that was about 3 years ago, so I may have to dig.
Oh, hey, Gus, you get my P.M.?

O1 should have greater wear resistance than plain ol' 1095. Prolly similar to 1095CV with the same heat-treat. BUT I bet Todd runs his O1 a smidge harder than Ka-bar's 1095CV. I'd be curious to know the target hardness for the Yuma.![]()
