Obviously you've never had a fresh Lamar's, or you wouldn't think that Krispy Kreme is good. I've had fresh Krispy Kreme's before. I've been the very first person to get them in the morning. But I've had better doughnuts at probably 15 different places. Heck, I've even occasionally had grocery store doughnuts that were better than Krispy Kreme. Not on a regular basis, I grant you, but I don't see the hype.
-edit- I guess most of the places we're saying have better doughnuts are smaller chains or local places. Excepting Dunkin Donuts, which I don't agree with. So, I suppose that, as far as big national chain doughnuts go, they're pretty darn good. But, that's like saying that Budweiser is pretty good if we only compare it to big brand-name beers, and pretend that the numerous better beers made by smaller places or microbrews don't exist or don't count. Or that Safeway select bacon or something is the best ever, in context of a comparison between grocery store bacons, and that therefore something like Benton's doesn't count. And that's just silly talk.
