JT and MM you two need to stop. I bet you guys are going to get along great at E's. Don't let the ambiguity of the internet ruin what could be a great experience. A lot is lost in translation when you post online. I love movies about choreographed dance teams. See?....................Ohhhhhhhhhhh wait for it..........................BAMMMMMM!!!!! Best scene ever!

ah, someone bucking authority and all that ;)

I do it out of love ;) One day we can spoon at a gathering of some sort. It may be a little ways off but it will be worth the wait :D

In other news.... I have a really bad sinus infection. Going to take the day off of work tomorrow to go see the doctor. The medicine I've taken tonight has made me a little light headed and spinney. It may be time for bed soon

While I admit the gentlemen in this video is a good dancer. If I was his boss I would have to give him some trouble for dancing on the clock instead of sweeping like I told him too! these kids today and their bip-in and a-bop-en, hip-ing and a hop-ing. Where was Bill Crosby when you needed him!

Ok. So my favorite right now is my NMFBM w/ black/tan g-10. I frickin love it and it is surely a beast when it comes to chopping for fun. When I volunteer at the state park to clear trails I bring the ESEE Junglas. It is a lot lighter to be swinging all day. I did recently purchase a "Fell Beast" from Hunter Martin that I will be bringing to the gathering for the masses to beat on. I already cleared the crap behind my fence in about half the time it usually takes so initial opinion is pretty good (minus the sheath). Long story short I love knives and if I have money to spend or something to trade, it's not going to be in that size range.

Sweet TW!!! The mistresses are sweet blades. I have had the pleasure of using a couple of them!!

Those Fell Beast are AWESOME as well. I have eyed them a bunch. Love me some 52100.

Id like to put my Giedymin against a few mistresses, just for fun. Even the Moab. Besides my Comp Cutter the Giedymin is the best chopper i ever used. And its damn close to the comp cutter as well. I can get single deeper bites with the comp cutter, but i can chop thru something requiring more than a few hits faster with the Giedymin..... Im still always looking for the next best thing though :D

Just got in the firesteels and scrappers from Dex and they are awesome. Great size, and you can actually get a good grip on the scrappers unlike so many others i have tried.

These should last for years to come here and look great starting my fires!!

Thanks again Dex!!!

I just got mine today too. So nice! He made me a couple pieces of antler for my leather work too. Dex is really good at this. Thanks Dex!

Everyone here needs to relax. I haven't read all of what has gone on, nor will I, I don't want to spend what precious little time I have this evening dwelling on negatives. Call it good, shake hands, whomever has beef with whomever, stow it and ignore them. We are all here for the knives, the friends, and the shared experiences, and all will maintain a respectful demeanor towards eachother or you will be removed. This is Ethan's house and there is simply no room for anything other than good times in here.

That being said, I apologize for my absence, I have been exceptionally busy with the new job and fully intend to post up something explaining myself better (with pics) but I will definitely be at the Gathering and I look forward to seeing everyone there.

Derek

Those are sweet bud!! Those antlers look nice too!!

He does do great work!! And is an awesome guy all around. He knows i like beads so without me even knowing he made me a nice bead, and threw in an extra smaller steel that my wife has already confiscated from me LOL.

Dex you rock bro!!

Just lit some charcoal for the grill and have a ribeye seasoned and ready to go. I haven't had a good ribeye since last fall, so my mouth was watering before we even got out of the store with it.

I may have to get my hands on some of those fire steels.....they look pretty darn nice. I spose I could get a few blanks and try make some myself. I definitely have enough feet antler around here.

210 is 60% of what number?

And how do you figure it out?

I understand how to take 60% off of 210 or just figuring what 60% of 210 is... 210*.6 = 126 and 210-126 = 84

But for the life of me right now i cant remember how to do it the other way....

Hey everyone, how's it going?
Was enjoying the great outdoors today, nice and sunny 87 degree weather!

350

Take 210 divided by 6 gives you 35. Take 35 times 4 gives you 140.
Add 210 and 140 for 350.

Right?...right.

But I'm sure there's an easier way to figure it out...
That there was some Missoura math! Lol:D

What Derek said.

I want to stress these two ideas:

1) Play nice.
2) Stop with the chick pics. If you want female eye candy, there is a place here for it. In another forum. You have to pay to see it, but so be it.

The Snark thread rests on the good graces of the moderators, who don't want the extra work of having to patrol it.
Most of us have lives beyond the Snark, which can go away really easily.

I generally teach this in context of translating english into math.

Is means =
of means *
what means x (variable)
percent means /100
There's some others (more than, less than, double, half, etc) that come up.

In this case, 210 = 60/100 * x would be the translation. After that it's just a matter of solving for x. In this case, we're looking at 2100/6, or 350.

I dunno about "proper way." It's exactly the same math as yours after all. It's just a repeatable methodology for dealing with these things, is all.

You all probably shouldn't get me started on this. I'll give you all kinds of obnoxious-looking questions :P

-edit- Ahh, what the heck. Here's a few more to practice. Answers in white.

1. 25% of what is equal to 75% of 400? (1200)
2. 50% of 25% of what is 96? (768)
3. In a box of Becker knives, 35 percent of the knives are BK9's, 15 percent are BK2's, 20 percent are BK5's, 5 percent are BK3's, and the remaining 15 knives are tweeners. How many BKT knives are in the box? There are 60 BKT knives.

Or 210 divided by 60 is 3.5. Then 3.5x100=350.

Thanks fellas!! I believe i learned it the way AC put it.. but my memory comes and goes when it wants.

3. I was working on #3 when I realized I could see the answers when replying with quote! Lol

Edit*- I could use a drink!

Now i was able to figure out 1 and 3, but 2 is giving me some trouble.
