happy birthday - a 23 YO islay sounds sublime to me as well.
1990 was the year I dropped out of college, because 89 was the fall I tried to cut off my leg and had to drop an entire semester's worth of classes.
 
There was a BNIB BK15 for sale on another forum for $60. I sure don't need one, but I thought about getting just for the price, haha.
 
got a 65mm vortex spotting scope with tripod and bags for $140. low end, but good enough for my needs
 
Want to try spear throwing - go for the atlatl. Can be accurate for long distances WITH PRACTICE. There are even some atlatl clubs scattered around the nation.

that's on the list. i even had an SO that was going to have one custom made for me, but "lack of range" in new england.

classic spear is good.
 
Spent the last few days up in northern Ontario establishing some new routes. We were planning on staying a few more days, but the black flies were too thick. Literally inhaling them. Not fun. Managed to bolt the upper pitch of this route. The line is over 100 m tall.

gmoneyluv don't even say the words black and fly together near me. Those things are literally the spawn of hell. They actually fly around your head in a halo like formation waiting for clearance to land.

That is NOT an exaggeration.

I hear ya! They almost drove us crazy on the last day. Had to cut the trip short just to maintain our sanity. We were joking that in northern Ontario you don't have to worry about getting killed by bears, wolves or coyotes. It's the black flies that will get you!
