Glad to hear all is well, albeit busy, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, just means one has to shift priorities here and there. Missed meeting you at BeckerWest, so hopefully I can catch you at the next one.

Yeah man. Hopefully the stars will align for me come this fall. I was looking forward to meeting all the new faces.

Hopefully I'll have leather and steel to bring in the fall.

Been busy packing most for most of the day. Heading up to Northern Ontario for six days. Working on a new cliff. Here is a pic of new route I bolted last week. It's about 40+ m tall and overhangs 12 m. Got my eyes on some larger projects!

NICE!!!!! I love that!

That looks so badass. Awesome work!

That is awesome! Really nice work man, love it.

What an amazing job SS!! That is just too cool!
:thumbsup::thumbsup:
Joe

Thanks, everyone. We made a few "hand hewn" beams today. They weren't truly hewn like my mantels, just sawed on the bandsaw and then scarred up with an axe. Didn't manage to get any pictures before they had to be delivered.

Awesome man.

That's some hardcore shit right there...

Thanks. I love building new routes. This place is super isolated. About seven hours north of Toronto. No cell service and you need a proper high clearance 4x4 vehicle to get in and out! Amazing area. Here is a link to a thread when we first visited the place:

Thanks, Dubz! I think your son would be psyched on the place!

Very nice! I used to do some rappelling back in the day. But my friends and I were bare bones: harness, rope, D-ring and figure 8s. Did a lot of bouldering and free climbing as well. My wife and I want to get back into it one day.

i thought bolting up routes was considered bad ecology?

this is birthday week. i hold in my hands an Islay bottled in 1990, older than half my years.

hail eris and stuff like that...

to drink it, with local deep well water, is sublime.

carry on.

Uisge-beatha!

Water of life... I am rather fond of a fine Islay.
Enjoy your birthday, my friend.

Slàinte mhath.

Awesome! I live in Toronto right now. Is that Canadian shield rock? Does it extend all the way up there? How far north are we talking?

Edit* Nevermind I read some of that thread you linked and it answered most my questions. However I still would like to know if that it Canadian shield rock?

Wow, beautiful stuff G$...

It was originally frowned upon for mostly stylistic reasons. Bolts do less damage that pitons which tend to be placed and removed. Many of the classic hard crack lines were free climbed only after the lines were "improved" (holds/finger locks were made bigger) with aggressive pin-cleaning.

It's Canadian Shield. Up in the Algoma region just north of Blind River.
Where are you based in TO? We moved to Hamilton about two years ago.

So, I got in some French curves and a drafting pencil. I been working on some designs for a knife. Well, several knives actually. I need to figure out how to digitize them though. Right now they are just on paper. Doc was telling me about using a program called Sketch up. I may look into that.
