well. shit stains. i mean, almost literally...

seems there's a small rotted bit in the final end of the waste stack vertical.

easy repair, but Memorial day... Blade Show coming up... and I caught it in time, thank goodness.

quick patch job should hold it until next week sometime.

previous owner had the same issue, and used "magic epoxy tape" and clamps to solve it. lame.

whee...

in other news, i'm going to chill, and spend the rest of my awake time studying, and playing with my new carry on bag :D

mmm, well. last two day have been forced labor in the yard. day one included mass debris removing around the pool inside and outside, pruning, and pushing back some of the hardier species :D day two was similar but involved removing basically all sizes of the common maple and oak saplings, white pines, and anything else i didn't want to keep; keepers are black birch, elm, beech, sassyfrassy, and some of the shrubberies that aren't dead - pushing the forest back another 20 feet to make the front "yard" bigger and along the driveway. then of course, the day ends after everything is chipped and tools put away.

gotta get my wood craft kit together and sharp - i have various odd balls of broadaxes and augers and spudder and froe(s), and they are all vintage and need fixing up; so set up and learn the slow stone, sharpening orgy, and ... so much fun. much thanks to Trade for sending over a real nice old froe for country woodcraft style hacking :D

but today, slow. recovery. anime. maybe a bicycle ride if it's not raining, find a trail. ease on down the road.

I understand getting rid of the maple, but why the oak?

Most folks want to cut out the beech, elm, sassafras, maple, etc. but keep the oaks.

Anyone know the photo limit per post? I just returned from the cabin, and I took 823 photos, haha. Gonna take some time to process, etc. Some video too, but not what you think.

I knew you were at your cabin with your new BK20 this weekend so I have been looking forward to seeing your pics. That is a lot of pics, wow. I am pretty sure the old bladeforums was a 40 picture limit but I don't know if the new set up here is the same.

The old forum was definitely 40 per post. I'll try that here. Have to narrow it down. I did get to use the 12 and 20 both. I wish I could have used them more. I did include fire making, food, etc. We had some bad weather there too. We were very near a tornado, and I'm not too sure one didn't pass over us, just not touch down. It was wicked.

Yikes! That's a lot of pictures. I took a bunch from my outing too, but not nearly that many. I found it difficult to work and play photographer at the same time...

My hat goes off to you sir, I'm looking forward to the pics.

It really is a lot of work taking that many photos. Of course, the wife took a lot of those, while I used the blades. Lot easier just to use them, and not take photos, but worth it when it's all said and done.

I'm looking forward to both of yall's trips! 20 is the limit per post here now....
20, ouch.

i have a lot of mature maple and oaks...

the "sapling stuff" is in the way of other growth, basically weed trees...

if the canopies are touchin, they need choppin

i'm way in earlier, i want a tidy tidy forest floor. some of the big guys, esp the weird, bent shit, are coming down too.

Right on. As a forestry student, it is always interesting to hear/read how different landowners manage their property.

Got it narrowed down to 230 photos, and 4 small video clips. Dayum. Lotsa work ahead.

I think it depends on the type of upload you use, I think there's a limit over 20 if you link to them from an image hosting site.

Oh, okay, that makes sense. I finally got done telling my story, and uploading photos, etc. I'll post it up tomorrow.
