guys need a recommendation for a sharpener for pocket knives exclusively...

My old Japenese water stone was warped beyond repair so i ditched it... Not looking for a fancy set up and im used to wet stones but im open to something simular... NO JIGS

i have a pocket stone from @FortyTwoBlades he has his own line of stones that he sells on his website that are excellent

i got one of the solo portables with a pot and tripod for "good price" a while ago, and can't wait to use it. everything nests mostly, and it's sweet.

Ethan just laughed and said use an old #2 coffee can or something ;) heathen!

i also snagged one of those solo bonfires as my "portable wood burning appliance. my town has weird ideers on size and placement of "outside wood fires" as well as calling them burn barrels or trash pits. hah. i like it. pretty. easy to move. hell, comes with a bag (for trips)...

i got a $12 grill top for it, and wanted a metal trash can lid for it, but you apparently can't buy those. you CAN buy a 15 gallon wash bucket for cheap :D

DMT Double Sided Diafold

For me though, I have an extra pink and brown stone from my KME sitting in an old carrier from a KME that I keep in my toiletries bag for on the go.

I took a bunch of pictures and I didn't want to clutter up the Snark with them so I started a thread in regards to my first go with that Solo. Hopefully that was ok to post here.

I really dig it, very pleased with my purchase thus far.

You included Becker content... You're fine! It looks like a nice set up. How hot did the bottom of the set up get?

It gets pretty hot on the outside. However, the ash tray inside is separate from the bottom portion of the whole unit (think vacuum sealed water bottles). I'll need to check the bottom next time I light it up, which I will probably give it another go tomorrow on my lunch break.

should've added 6" length at least.. so blades has stones now to not just 'chetes, man ive been gone for a long time.... feel like a knife virgin...

but i carry everyday and have forever, does that count ?? well at least it makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside... but im way out of the loop thats for sure....

That totally counts! It's good to see you making an appearance again too! Are you looking for something big and bulky or something small and discrete that fits in a pocket?
next thing you guys will tell me is Becker now has a folder simular to Spyderco Dragonfly
Nah but Ethan did design something similar to the Spyderco PM2... There was a give-a-way for all beckerheads with numbers under #250

Put some new tires on my truck today... 265/75/16 wildpeak at3s. Way better than the firestone destinations i was running. A bit bigger too. And then i went and played in some sand pits a few miles from my house. Then beer. Then i lost at some cornhole... A good Friday.

I still want that rat bastard blade from zombie tools... I been eyeing that thing for years...

....Battle is farting up a storm tonight... Bout to run me out the house!! The wife woke up looking crazy at me like I'm the one shittin myself...

I use a dmt coarse stone and Spyderco ceramic benchstones for all my knives. They were kind of pricey when I got them and I'm not sure they still make them. But I love them and will probably use them for the rest of my life.

DIY!

A soup can, a tomato can and some hardware cloth.

Most of my knives, I use the Ken Onion Worksharp. Love it - so quick and easy, with great results.
My Japanese kitchen knives get sharpened exclusively on whetstones.
400 Naniwa, 1000 King, 2000 Naniwa, and 600 with no English markings other than 6000 and S-45.
King was the first, and I have no qualms about using or recommending it. Doesn't feel as soft as the Naniwa stones, but works great and cost about 1/3 what those did.

thanks guys and brick thats what im talking about, Im looking at those exact stones..

bearfaced... thats the set-up ive been using for the past 7 or so years... progresso and cambells, snuggles perfectly in my cookwear. no added bulk, and when youre really hardcore you go out with full cans of soup make it at camp and come back with another new stove.. They do rust out and get nasty pretty quick but free is always a bonus...

Well... you could ask for a folding titanium one. :D

But seriously, that's a sweet improvised setup. I love it.

My sharpening is almost exclusively on diamond bench 'stones'.
Out here on the ship I've got non-diamonds, but that's mostly just touch-up and fixing other people's wrecked blades made of very soft stuff. Oh, and a nail buffer strop, of course.
