So I have been wanting to try a wood burning or solid fuel stove appropriate for backpacking for quite some time now, I just haven't wanted to pony up the funds when I have a couple of perfectly good ISO-Butane stoves at my disposal already. However, I managed to score a Solo Stove Lite for an insanely good price from one of those big Internet shopping sites yesterday and I should be getting it sometime tomorrow.

I can't wait to check it out and see if it is as awesome as all the hype has led me to believe. I would love to not have to lug around fuel canisters every time I venture out into the woods... A big plus would be if it also happens to fit in my current cookset. Granted, I would not be heartbroken to have to purchase another pot, I have had my current ones for a lot of years.
 
One word...Emberlit! Takes about 4-5 minutes to bring water to a rolling boil. Plus, the fuel is free....

Love my Ti Emberlit. Thinking about getting a Firebox Nano.
 
I was going to get an Emberlit, still might. But the Solo was too good a deal to pass up. Should get it in tomorrow and I will try it out.

Ha-Ha! You can definitely get it stoked up with a good draft or close the damper and keep the coals going longer with plenty of heat to cook on. The top picture was actually the first proto. The middle one was made lighter with a better door/damper and a few other changes. It'll run circles around the older one. The small one still needs some changes here and there.

Aside from the few my friend and I still have, there are only a handful out in the wild. A few are in Beckerhead hands and some close friends have a few others. The only small one out in the wild is in the hands of the one-and-only Tim Hunt.
 
That is pretty sweet! Yeah I do think the Nautilus IS Daizee's ship. I don't know if he is aboard right now or not. I actually need to talk to him and get me a 115% something from him. I have a 85% and a 100% along with a Dashi

But up in springfield I have a smoker that uses wood chips and is heated by propane. Not my favorite method but it's pretty consistent.

You have to post in the Tech Support subforum to get help, you can get your signature changed by someone else (Maybe a mod, maybe Spark, I can't remember) but as a non-paying member you don't have the ability to get rid of it yourself due to not having the option of having one in the first place.

guys need a recommendation for a sharpener for pocket knives exclusively...

My old Japenese water stone was warped beyond repair so i ditched it... Not looking for a fancy set up and im used to wet stones but im open to something simular... NO JIGS
