Ive been looking for End Of Day knives made Colonial for years. I have never seen one without cracks in the handles before. I recently found 2 of them about a week apart.

They aren't mint but have no cracks in the celluliod at all.

The fish knife is extra interesting because it has 2 main blades.

The smaller jack knife was made in the 1930's and the celluliod fish knife in the early 1940's.

I went with Imageshack. It works similar enough to photobucket that I found it easy to use. I couldn't get imgur to work and I decided I dont want to rely on free places anymore.

Imageshack has a 30 day free trial. Its $40 a year but its 50% off right now. I think they are trying to get as many people who left photobucket as they can.

I am very happy with it.
I signed up there long ago. Perhaps I'll give it another look. So far, I think Fotki looks the best for my purposes. 30 day free trial, then $24 per year, for 100GB. Of course there's higher plans as well.

I have a smoker similar to that one. I also got an electric direct smoker from my wife for Christmas.

I couldnt swing the price of a Horizon but this Oklahoma Joe will get the job done. I've been eyeballing a electric smoker also. I like the set it and almost forget it feature of the electric smoker. My mate just got one that has auto feed for wood pellets. Thats just getting a little to restrictor plate Nascar for me. Takes the fun out of it completely.

My indirect smoker, I got from Wally several years ago. Used to use it all the time, but haven't for years now. It was one of the first indirect models they offered. Doesn't even have the clean out door on the firebox. I like it a lot, but it is a lot of work, especially when it takes 12 hours to smoke a 15lb brisket.

My new electric one is about the cheapest direct smoker you can get. It's a Char-broil. Not digital. It has the temp knob on the cord. Have had it since Christmas, and have yet to use it. I need to do the initial burn, and at least get it ready to go. I like smoking in the cooler weather better.

That char broil would do me just fine. K.I.S.S thats my style. Never quite got the hang of smoking a good mullet fish. Up here were im living now id like to smoke up some blue fish. The electric char-broil would serve me well.

It should serve me well. It's this one:

I was thinking of doing a mod to it. Mount a small shelf on the side, and drill a hole in the box above the shelf. That way I could set a digital thermometer on the shelf, run the probe through the hole, into the meat, and the wireless signal would let me know when it's done.

Also, I saw a review on the zon, and a guy there added a latch to the door, to make it more air tight, and also added a handle to the wood box, to make it easier to get off, to add wood:

Where are you seeing that it's 50% off? I'm not finding anything.

Thought I'd have a million or so pages of Snark to catch up on, having not logged on in a month.....but I guess not. Slow for everybody, I guess. Still, not likely to try and catch up. tdhurl was commenting on IG about the whole PB reality disconnect. I've been using flickr for a few years with no problems, and a free terabyte of storage and an "uploadr" app for my cell works pretty great. Interface isn't perfect, but...it works. Anywho, hope y'all are doing fine.
I have to thank the Beckerheads....I haven't had much time for outdoorsy stuff, but I have been sleeping outside at least a couple nights a week in my semi-permanent hammock setup, none of which I would have even thought to do if it weren't for this crew.

Don't really have room for my laptop in there.

See ya 'round.

Testing Imgur pic....
...
Success!!
I've had some operator error with Imgur in the past, but I think I've got the hang of it now. Not too difficult, just different than Puke-OBucket...

congratulations $USER, on your test... you $OTHERS should also test faster

however, your $SIGNATURE is still contaminated. please to fix that ;) soon

really really really soon now.
good job though!

i'm formulating a letter to pee-phuckette such that we will outright ban their links, so good luck with that in the future, take care, thanks for the phishing...

users will ideally comply as well ;) seriously, clean up your acts. i really hate seeing 2-3 lines posts with vertical content spam tha exceeds the content by 100 times.

that's web speak for "dude, you sig is hanging out of your zipper, and the ladies prefer their content to be trimmed and tidy"

don't make me call you out later... shit, i might just have to have a contest for people that do it right :D losers may have to pay penance ;)

Perfect for me. And i like everyone of your mod ideas. Thanks Warrior

And apparently I don't know how to get rid of my signature... That's annoying. I did on the old software. Anyway, as far as smokers I cheat using a propane grill I will throw a pie tin of chips on one side and then the other side I leave off and put a piece of cardboard wrapped in aluminum foil between the two sides so the heat doesn't radiate across too much. But up in springfield I have a smoker that uses wood chips and is heated by propane. Not my favorite method but it's pretty consistent.

I wonder if your sig and avatar are just there because you used to have a paid membership and now that it has lapsed, they remain, you just aren't able to change them due to not having that ability without the membership. I noticed a lot of folks who still had avatars on the old software, yet were not paid members. I figured that had to do with lapsed memberships and there being no mechanism in place to purge such things once the subscription ended.

With smoking briskets and roasts, I only use my indirect smoker pit for about 4 hours, maintaining the temperature of the smoker at 200ºF to 225ºF. Sopping sauce is applied about every 20-25 minutes and the meat turned.

After that, I wrap the brisket or roast in 2 layers of foil along with a couple of dippers worth of my "secret sopping sauce" and pop it in the oven at 225ºF for another 4 hours. Comes out with a 3/8" to 1/2" wide smoke ring, great flavor and so tender, it nearly chews itself for you while cutting it.

I recently started smoking 3 inch thick sections of bottom round (e.g., almost rump roasts) rather than briskets. These cuts are a lot leaner and yield more end weight meat than briskets. 2 3" bottom round cuts (about 5# of meat) left me with a little over 4.5# end weight after cooking and fat removal, about a 10% weight reduction.

The last time I smoked a 13.5# brisket, after cooking and fat layer removal, I had about 8# of actual meat, a 40% reduction. The roasts cost $4.00/pound or $21. The brisket was $1.89/pound or $25+.

Comparing cost to yield, round steak bottom roast is the way to go.
