It's good to start a thread once in a while.

I have developed an appreciation for the stockman pattern. I have nothing at all against the spay blade, its good; however, my 2 favorite blades are probably a sheepsfoot and a clip. When i discovered the stockman with a punch I realized what an great knife this was for me. My two favorite blades with a bonus blade that is great for scraping, poking, light prying and other dumb things I am tempted to do. I honestly don't poke holes in leather much but I find plenty of uses.

Who else likes the stockman with a punch?

Here are my two....Schrade 899 and Old Timer 36OT (Taylor)

Case 6318pv in amber bone. No pic, but it looks so much like r8shell's that yet another would be superfluous.

Nice knives ladies and gents - here are a few of mine, Buck 319 Rancher and a Camillus era Western Stockman. OH

I really need to get one like that and try it out for awhile. I like the idea, but asthetically it challenges me a little. My love of the stockman stems from grandpa (I have his) and dad both carrying them as long as I remember. But I actually rarely use the Spey and could see myself using the punch for odd things.

I like that buck 319. I'll have to look into that.

I love this style of knife, I carry something similar everyday. It's my much mentioned Queen #49H, which actually has a hoofpick instead of a second blade(great for back scratching). I usually carry my forum knife as well, can't have enough punches, and they are completely different styles. I also have an S&M equal-end cattlemen, although it has a Spey. I would like to pick up the buck 319, and a Case model when funds permit. OH- really like the punch on your camillus/western stockman, with the small flattened area. For more comfortable precise control, I would guess? Trying to learn to get photos up, just been a busy week, will add some pics when I can. Great examples and pictures everyone! Let's keep 'em coming. I love to see different models that I never knew I needed. :D ;)
Thanks, Neal

Wow, this thread was a bad idea. Its making me want more.

R8shell - That case amber bone is awesome. I bought one for a friend and got to play with it. It has been on my mind ever since.

The Western is truly outstanding. It has the pocket wear and patina of a nice old traditional. I don't know much about them, but they must be kind of rare compared to Schrades.

Railsplitter & Rookie82 - Those tuna valley are beautiful. I've never had a Tuna Valley, they are somewhat finer than what I carry, but I admire them.

OH - I dont own a Buck and I've been looking at 301s. I have never even heard of 319! Looks awesome. The Western looks brand new. Beautiful. How old is it?

Joeradza - first time I have seen that GEC. What year? love the covers.

Edbeau - great old Camillus. I love how the pivots go through the bolsters, always seem extra sturdy sturdy to me. Someone recently snatched up a great one on the auction site.

Buzzbait - I have been thinking I need a yeller case. Your second picture is a good shot. I take terrible pictures. Wonder why case makes the punch stainless??

These have opened my eyes on a useful stockman for me. I've never used the Spey blade much, a clip/sheep's foot/punch combo is perfect in my opinion...the only thing better would be a whittler pattern with this combo (probably doesn't exist though). Now I just have to find one at a reasonable price.

This thread makes me want to go out and fix something. I'm buying one of these soon. It might rival my SAK Electrician for home repair jobs.

Nice one Blake!
Did you get it in the UK?
Take care
Graham

Yes I did Graham. Not allowed to mention the supplier but there are only two that stock Rough Rider and Colt in UK to my knowledge, and I think it fair to say it was the smaller of the two. Put it this way, I'm over the MOON with it, and that's not just a clue but, also, the truth. Not a lot of money either, for something of good quality with nice bone/stag scales. I did a fuller review on the Rough Rider and related slip joints thread. Best of luck mate. 👍
