Is that fossil wood up on the right?

The Ducks Unlimited 112's have 2 versions too. The USA run was 5,000 and the Canadian version was 4,000 but the Canadian was nickel silver and I see 5 USA for sale verses one of the Canadian. I'm guessing more of them were sold up there and because of shipping costs and the difference in currencies more stay there.
I too wonder why employees let there knives go, especially the older service award knives, but figured the main reason is that Buck employee's pricing is so good for any user and collectors pay very well for the special limited Bucks employees have access to..

Mak, I wish, just a piece of a rat chewed white-tail shed that a control burn added color to.

Be careful using fire to color stag, goes fast and looks ugly......I think......300

Good thing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I wish I could have kept or still keep all of them I have gotten and will still get ya know----I would have to move out of my house --dam I have to many now--but not only bucks---just seems like a lot of knives are coming out right now...I have got some good stuff at auction and I guess another big load this wednesday----whooya!!!!! cant wait!!!!

Mike, on one of your factory expeditions, would you please try and convince someone that etching "LIMITED EDITION" on the blades of expensive LE knives is just plain cheesy. Buck seems to be doing it on everything now. They did it on the 119 Historical set, the Chuck Buck 500 and 405, even the Glint to name a few....

Ditto. :thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup: What he said.

Me too. I know I'm in the minority, but, I like a clean blade, no cut outs, no printing, nada. Chipped flint/blackened are OK:rolleyes:. Sometimes, even the serialization is enough to keep me from buying. There are some knives that I would like to have in my accumulation but don't because of this aversion of mine. Preston

I agree with everyone else for the most part, in that I don't want a billboard on the blade itself proclaiming how special it is. Perhaps a simple "LE" or "Limited Edition" in script on the pile side of the ricasso is warranted though.

For instance, you look at any of these "Limited Edition" knives that Buck puts out in their "Legacy Collection" and they look like no other Buck knife made. If you have a mark from the factory, you could verify its authenticity. With no mark at all, one might take it as a counterfeit. 20 years in the future, someone might be thankful for such a mark. If some of these other makers can put 3 or 4 lines of text on the ricasso of a little slip-joint, there should be enough space there for a tastefully done makers mark or LE proclamation. Just keep it off the blades useable surface.
