The Sunday Picture Show... (2-26-2017) <OLD SHOW LOOK AT DATE>

Thank You ITE for starting another Greatest Show. Some great pictures of great knives today. For my donation to the show is my 277 BOS with the chicken foot year mark. Got this knife after loosing another on the bay. I received a email from a guy offering me one at my high bid on the one I lost. I knew it was a risk but it worked out for me.

Yes I felt the heat from other members but this started early and they were joining without knowing what I knew and said to you. My mind is clear, I was just trying to help you that's all. You call your knives anything you want. Is that an original version 1 variation 1 with the 2 inlay pins. If you measure the width it should be 1/2 inch wide after version 3 the knives were made 9/16 wide, one way to tell. I see that the knife is stamped on the tang, buck. I have a original version 1 variation 1 and the word -buck-is stamped horizontal on the right side. The original Federal !! You Have A Good Day Sir.

The original 1963-64 buck federal signed by Chuck Buck in 2002.

To date these two old 110 I have used the information that is available in this same forum in "revised 110/112 data sheet as of --->5/1/08", there is a huge amount of variations that has 110 throughout its history, I hope that this magnificent pocket knife will continue to evolve for many years to come. On the other hand, when I saw how Buck called each of the representative models of the 50th anniversary, I mistakenly assumed that this was officially termed the three main generations of the 110, I now see my mistake.

Magnificent that 110 original version 1 variation 1 signed by Chuck Buck, congratulations on getting that jewel.

Thank you and all for the help. My apologies for the debate held in this post dedicated to enjoying the photos of our beloved Buck knives.

Greetings.

Well, I just learned something - had seen the names and never put it together (variations named after streets). OH

Wow , many beautiful knives. I really like the one with the motorcycle on it. Also the two shiny ones with big blades.

What motorcycle?.... made me look again. I bet I looked at and admired Michaels's knife a half dozen times today and the motorcycle never registered.... too much dazzle I guess..... ;o)

OH,

You're spot on stating that a lot of "good stuff" is being posted this Sunday. I really like both of your knives for a particular reason....more on that.

I don't know what a couple of things you wrote meant, and I think it's because I've only been seriously interested in Buck knives since last summer. Based on the bold I've put into your post, I don't know what "NOS" means? Nor do I know what "the Camillus era" means??

OK. What I especially liked about your two knives is the "classic logo" on the handles as compared to what I mostly see now --- the name "BUCK" within an oval insert. For a while, I've been looking for a Buck Toothpick, and actually found a 385 at an internet knife store with the classic logo. So I ordered one. I got the Toothpick this week, it is quite nice, and has some really nice-looking wood handles. [Wood is my favorite "look" at a knife]. Although the knife was advertised with the classic logo, this is the knife they sent to me:

I was disappointed not to get the classic logo. Called the knife shop, and the rep checked with Buck and the knife with the classic logo is not available. The web had not been updated. So that leaves me at a loss on how to find Buck knives with the classic logo.

Are they no longer being produced that way?
Is there somewhere I can find Bucks with that, what I think, is an iconic logo?
Thanks for any insight you may share....

I know this isn't a typical SPS photo post sharing about the logo. But it did give me a chance to post this new Toothpick. Just my "small;) contribution" to today's show!

Again, really like your 301....thanks for posting.

Man, lot of pictures up early this Sunday - good stuff! I acquired a couple of NOS Buck pocketknives from the Camillus era this past week; a 301 and a 313. OH

First time contributing to the show. I don't have fancy Bucks like many of you, but I enjoy mine just the same.

Nice collection, OldSchool....and a great photo on wood! I'm right alongside you with my Buck collection at 6 now! ;)

But whether 10 or 10,000, what you said is the best & most important for anyone: "I enjoy mine...." Cool.

Bozhidar47, I think Old Hunter left for the day. Can I help with any questions. Well NOS is short for New Old Stock. Also I believe ,I only collect Buck 110's, but Camillus is a maker that is around but I'm guessing they don't make multi-blade pocket knives anymore. (just a guess). So when OH said he found NOS buck from the Camillus Era. That is a find for someone who collects Buck pocket knives. NOSisn't a guess that is what it means, When OH is around you might be better to ask him about the Camillus knife thing.

I went to bed 7:30 this morning after a late gig so I'm late back to the show lol! The 111 is elk horn NS bolsters and numbered 1209 of 200 ..If I remember correctly it only came with your BCCI membership number. There was something special about the sheith too but I can't remember what exactly. The first thing I cut with it was the flap on the sheith ànd then cut the snap off to put on the sheith to cover the ring. I've used it almost everyday since 2007. One odd thing is that knife had by far the sharpest point of any Buck I've ever bought. The gold etch shows no wear. .

Boz, Michael put you in the right direction on NOS (old knife but unused - not as rare to find them that way as you would think). Buck still makes plenty of knives with the Hammer-Knife-Bolt logo - all of the 300 series with black Valox grips that are made in Idaho have this shield design (logo). The knives made in Buck's offshore plants have the BUCK name on the shield (as your knife does). Camillus is a defunct USA manufacturer (closed sometime in 2007) that made many knives for other manufacturers under contract. They also made knives for distributors such as Smoky Mountain Knife Works. Sorting it all out is part of the fun - you have come to the right place - WELCOME! OH

Ps Here is a Buck 301 made in 2012 (the latest I have a picture of) - it was built in the Buck plant in Idaho and looks very similar my older one that was built by Camillus. It has the shield design you like - they make the Buck 303, 309, and 310 with the same shield - check out Buck's website for more pictures.

Boz, and others.

Let's not take over the Sunday Picture Show with a shield history. You, me or someone can start a new thread on Buck Shield history. Many Bucks do not have shields. Since you don't have Private Mail in your Bladeforum page state here if you would like someone to start a new thread or you could give it a try yourself. Go to the Buck forum homepage and click on Start New thread. Everyone will likely get some information from the thread.

OH I thought Camillus closed but I went and checked for a webpage and they are still in production so that is why I told BOZ to contact you.
